Cannot confirm but here is the speculation.

S Cross petrol variant will launch after the Ignis , Baleno RS and Ciaz face-lift.

June/July is the time frame for launch. Petrol will be the 1.5L engine and likely to come also in the 6AT variant as built for Indonesia.( below is the spec)

Will the dealers actually be worried that Ciaz will move to Nexa? I don't think so. Most of the Nexa dealerships seem to be owned by the regular Maruti dealers anyway. Valid observation? Individual Sales guys at the dealerships may be pissed though.

But you also have to consider one key point. Most of the Cities/Town's don't have a NEXA Dealer yet even though they may have a regular one. For example, in Mysore, there isn't a NEXA there, so what should people there do who are interested in buying a Ciaz ? Drive all the way to Mangalore/Bangalore or even Coimbatore ?

If you see the NEXA Network in Karnataka, only 4 Cities have them. Bangalore/Mangalore/Hubli/Bellary. It will be out of reach for People from other cities if they are to buy the Ciaz and if Maruti moves it to NEXA.

There are rumours that only 1.6 Ciaz might be sold via NEXA, but this would be unlikely.

Nexa RM's have undergone a 3 day training on Ignis, Baleno RS and Ciaz. I got the information that Maruti did not tell anything about 1.6 DDIS engine in Ciaz, but all the Variants of Ciaz would be shifted to Nexa. I guess the wait for 1.6 Ciaz gets longer. I was very excited when the birdie who visited Maruti planet confirmed about spotting 1.6 Ciaz. At the present training, Maruti just briefed them about Ciaz which is already on sale.

Maruti has not told them anything officially about 1.6 DDIS engine during the training today. But the trainer has told to few guys that 1.6 Ciaz might come in March

Ciaz is presently the hot selling car for MSIL in the premium category. It has very much fulfilled the age old ambitions of MSIL viz.,
a. Positioning MSIL securely as a viable option for premium customers,
b. Ending the near 2 decade chain of failures in the C2 sedan segment, and lastly,
c. Hitting hard at the City on its stomach.

On the face of it, the last thing that Maruti would do is to move it over to a channel that has very limited reach and in turn hit the axe at its own feet. However it seems MSIL has a different plan altogether for the Ciaz. Since Maruti has established itself in the C2 segment with back to back success of Ciaz and Brezza, may be that MSIL intends to take a calculated risk and move the Ciaz over to a higher brand position. This would not only enable MSIL to charge hefty premium for the “S-Badge” in future but also induce steep price hike on the Ciaz to fetch fat profits, whilst the Brezza would continue bringing volumes with the VFM tag.

In the mean time, in cities where NEXA is available, MSIL may shift the channels for the Ciaz. At other locations, perhaps it may continue selling them through regular dealerships until such time a dedicated NEXA is established.
I am not very sure though, and it’s my rough guess alone.

Agree completely.

I guess the sales will be halved if it is moved to Nexa (because of the limited reach). They should not take Baleno's sales numbers as a reference point to think that Nexa sales will equal that of regular showrooms. Reason? Baleno is capable of doing much higher numbers if it was sold through regular showrooms.

Couple of minor news on the Ciaz-move-to-Nexa front:

- Special staff known as the CTC (Ciaz Technical Consultants) are undergoing training right now, to handle future Ciaz customers at Nexa outlets.

- A series of Ciaz-based shorts are being filmed right now at Mumbai. Nexa ads/TVCs for the future Ciaz? Unclear yet.

- Will the Automatic still be the 4 speed automatic or will they change it to 5 speed CVT as in the Baleno, considering they are changing the engine.

Engine change is confirmed only for the diesel, and my guess is even that would be an additional variant along side the 1.3.

There is no concrete news on Petrol and AT options yet.

GaadiWaadi sources report that the 2017 Maruti-Suzuki Ciaz facelift will be launched in April 2017 from the company's Nexa dealership chain.

From the visual standpoint, the facelifted Ciaz is believed to come equipped with subtle cosmetic upgrades like reworked grille, fog lamp area and bumpers, inclusion of LED Daytime Running Lights, newly designed alloy wheels and HID projectors.
The range-topping variants is likely to offer sunroof while the interior could be adorned with an all-black theme and touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay connectivity.

The recent changes with respect to emblems also suggest that Ciaz will soon be shifted to NEXA.

The Ciaz will shift to NEXA within the next couple of months but without any changes yet. All the changes are lined up for 2018 with a bigger petrol and diesel engine and a cosmetic facelift. There may be an upgrade to ISG tech used as well.

I really haven't figured out the criteria based on which a car qualifies as a "Nexa" car rather than a regular MS car. It can't be price - the Ignis for example is cheaper than Ertiga or Dzire or Baleno is cheaper than Brezza. It can't be quality since they are made in the same factories by the same workers. Now they seem to be moving the Ciaz to Nexa. It seems to me the CEO of Suzuki India shoots some darts on a board with names of models on offer and moves them on a lark to the Nexa showroom. I don't really see a strategy.

Its simple. If they think a product can command better premium or sell higher in Nexa; they will place it in Nexa and vice-versa. Ignis is more like a urban small premium car, so Nexa makes sense. Brezza can fit everywhere tier-1, 2, rural; so MS standard dealership will do fine + non-Nexa dealers also need to be kept happy by getting a runaway success model.

Regarding Ciaz; Maruti will try to bridge the gap between the Ciaz and City. City prices have gone over the roof. Its now sitting exactly where the Civic was in its time. 12.5ish OTR for a decently loaded petrol model. Maruti will try to maximize this to their advantage by hiking prices while still keeping a margin to make customer steer towards Ciaz as a VFM offering. Also, they will sentimentally try justifying the premium by marketing it through Nexa to provide a so-called Premium experience better than what Honda offers.

I feel with the Nexa; Maruti will also try minimizing the discounts as well on the Ciaz. From customer standpoint; only tangible positive is all models with come with ABS and 2 bags.
And if the low quality Baleno can make it in Nexa; Ciaz surely does sit fine.
