Rumour: Hyundai might launch Eon Facelift in 2017

Hyundai India could be bringing out a facelifted version of the Eon next year even as it prepares an all-new generation of the sub-compact hatchback for a future launch, according to ACI.

The facelift's exteriors will see minor nips and tucks, while the interiors will see minor changes too. The biggest addition to the Eon will be the inclusion of a touchscreen-based infotainment HU.

Engine options are expected to continue, as of now.

Hyundai has begun work on a heavily updated version of its contender, the Eon.
Company sources in Hyundai have now told us that the Eon will soon go under the knife with a facelifted model expected to launch sometime next year.
Styling to the exterior will be minor for now, though Hyundai is readying a heavy makeover for the hatchback when it introduces the next-gen model in the future.
On the insides, the interiors will also get some changes too though the major one will be the addition of a touchscreen infotainment system.

It's good to see Hyundai finally bringing updates to the Eon. The current version has been on sale for more than five years now!
Having driven one recently for an extended period of time, I must say this is a very competent city car.
The car is comfortable, feels good inside out, AC is a chiller and the boot space is good too. The brakes are excellent as well!
The engine is a downer though, but only if you push it to the limits. Otherwise, it just gets the work done which is what required from a point A to point B city car.

With the touchscreen and all, it'll get some visitors from the prospective Kwid buyers.

Touchscreen based Infotainment system has become the feature that pulls crowd these days, just like power windows in 90's isn't it?
Not even the presence / absence of Airbags / ABS can influence the purchase decision like a catchy touchscreen ICU!
With Renault bringing the touchscreen to A1 segment cars, others can do nothing but follow suit. Hopefully they give something more in addition to these, such as fresh designs, better engines, etc.

Eon was long overdue for a facelift. With three sided competition pushing it out of the market (Alto, Kwid, RediGo), now they need to do something to stay in the market, or move out of A1 altogether to give way for the new Santro.

Wishlist for facelifted Eon (after having one in the family for 3 years):

Lesser creases and curves.
Slightly lower dashboard.
Make 1 L engine as the default

I think that Hyundai needs to introduce an AMT/ Auto box with the 1.0 engine. Along with this, a standard airbag would do wonders for the industry by setting a benchmark.

Alas, our market prefers touchscreen systems to ABS.

if a facelift is on the cards, I am sure Hyundai would also attend to the structural stability and airbags right from base version so that the car qualifies for the upcoming safety norms going to be introduced soon.

Off late Hyundai is playing with feature list (including safety features) that are being offered across trims. Rationalization of features and improved structural rigidity is something that is expected from one of the top sellers in India.
