the engines are the same used in palio now.it will be the same swift engine for diesel variant-suzuki is the suplier for the same.
air bag in punto is well come as swift will also introduce them as its not a problem at all since zxi swift already has one.and whether the model-how good it may be -sustain would be a plus point for the maruti sales team as reliablity of the manufacturer is a question in fiats case.

According to reports, Palio 1.3 JTD would be launched in March'08, then Linea by mid 2008, followed by Grande Punto JTD end of 2008!

Hope Linea is powered with 1.9 JTD 150 BHP!

Lets just say I have seen pictures of the Grande Punto test car (LHD) of course . A member on the forum has it. Confirmed news is that there are two of those in the plant. Another bit of confirmed news is that the Palio 1.3 is being tested with the 75 and 90 bhp plants.

Unconfirmed news is that there are 2 x Linea's at the plant and a Bravo coming soon.

Btw here are the engine options Petrol / Diesel available for the Linea and Punto internationally:

Linea Diesel:

Linea Petrol:

Punto Diesel:

Punto Petrol:

Both these cars are bigger than Grand Punto/Linea. How come we are expecting 1.9L 150bhp in Linea in India?

Would be excellent if we get it though!

Hoping not expecting . I am sure they aren't coming with a 1.9 option anytime soon.

Alfa Romeo released a variant of its 147 hatch just yesterday which uses a 170 bhp version of 1.9 JTDM. Source: ::ITALIASPEED::

Again, there are two twin turbo variants of 1.9 to be introduced yet in Alfa range of cars. IIRC, they should be displacing about 180 and 190 bhp in different tunes.

And, Fiat is planning to come up with a technology called Multiair, which is more like valvetronic of BMW. This technology of Fiat will not use cam shafts at all. Apparently, Alfa Romeo "Junior" (which is based on Grande Punto platform and will be released some time in 2008) will have a 1.4 lit naturally aspirated gasoline engine displacing about 115 bhp. Think of how much of power can be produced if Fiat decides to turbo charge this engine. This technology is supposed to be flexible enough to be introduced for both diesel and petrol engines of theirs.

Again, the same source for information.

It is not that there is a dearth of technologies, but what would Fiat launch in India is the question.

How come Bravo's length is lesser than that of the Punto
Worldwide car engine displacement is going down, Fiat intentionally do not give Bravo big capacity petrols. I guess we should expect the same in India as well, I would love to see the 1.4 T-Jet in India

I too think it is petrol. I do not think Abarth has started to tune diesel engines yet.

Bravo, if I remember correctly, is around 4300+m in length.
