Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

My sources tell me that, this Mahindra TUV5OO is expected to launch after XUV5OO Intelli Hybrid.

The TUV5OO is basically the Longer >4m version of TUV3OO. Apart from increased length, following changes are expected.
  • Will be having Longer Wheelbase
  • Front Facing 3rd Row Option along with current Side Facing Seats.
  • No Captain Seat Option.
  • Added Features (Don't have the Break-Up)
  • Since it's above 4m, it will come with 2.2 m-Eagle/m-hawk engine from Scorpio.
  • Will replace the Xylo once the new MPV (Innova Rival) is ready for launch.
  • Automatic will likely be a 6 Speed Unit from Scorpio/XUV5OO. The AMT isn't compatible with the bigger 2.2L Engine

Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

Mahindra TUV long wheelbase expected to get a 1.99-litre diesel engine.

The 1.99 mHawk unit is a downsized version of the 2.2 mHawk engine seen on the XUV500, for Mahindra to be able to sell the models in Delhi-NCR

Hmm, probably dictated by some bean counter? We must do more platform sharing.

Cutting a longer car didn't quite work for them earlier (Xylo to Quanto, Nuvo Sport), so now they are trying the other way around - extending a shorter car (TUV 300 to 500?)

I fail to understand what would be the point of launching TUV500 with so much similarities with Scorpio.

Re: Mahindra TUV300 : Official Review

The elongated version of the TUV300 has been caught testing with a Scorpio Getaway pick-up test mule by Motorbeam readers.

The longer TUV's 1.9L mHawk engine is supposedly borrowed from the Mahindra Scorpio, producing 122BHP of power.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

The TUV 500 will look good with the elongated rear.

The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh-tuv500.jpg

Though Scorpio has a strong fan following, I feel the TUV 500 will have an impact on Scorpio sales. Its more refined with better interiors and more importantly the TUV is ergonomically better than the Scorpio.

It remains to be seen whether Mahindra offers TUV 500 with 4*4 tech, I guess they will not since that'll be the only USP for Scorpio when the TUV LWB version is launched. TUV 500 will look more like an MUV than SUV, that's another advantage for Scorpio.

I my opinion, M&M design team needs a serious "overhauling"!

5 oh oh, Scorpio and Bolero should be manufactured with serious intent of providing customers with quality finished products and improve its quality to international standards and should not be bringing in overlapping products like TUV 3 oh oh or TUV 5 oh oh!

I also heard that they are planning to launch an "Encyclopedia Mahindra" which will be sold through Direct Selling Agents for customers to get a grip on the plethora of models and Oh Oh's available from the Mahindra stable. Other than drive up marketing and product development costs, I don't see any reason to have so many models and variants of the same model which end up cannibalizing each other.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

From Mahindra's point of view, it's a brilliant strategy.
Chassis & Platform - Shared with Scorpio
1.9L Engine & Gearbox - Shared with Scorpio
Body panels - Shared with the TUV
So for M&M the additional investment is negligible. The biggest advantage is, Bigger Body = FATTER Margins. So with minimal investment they are creating a whole new vehicle!!

The question is will it sell? Coming up with a product is one thing, but selling it is another. They repurposed the Quanto to make the NuvoSport, but as some members have pointed out, it was 'DOA' (Dead On Arrival).

In terms of looks (a personal opinion), the longer wheelbase TUV looks balanced than the TUV 300. If it has good power on tap then will surely sell way better and could, maybe, cannibalize the scorpio to a certain extent if offered in a 4*4 avatar

I am already considering this vehicle as my 2nd vehicle. I didnt like the TUV for it's shorter overhang; TUV 500 is more proper, comes with goodies of Scorpio + Automatic. Win win for me.

Frankly, I don't think M&M will have a problem selling this. The TUV is doing 1500 units avg. since the past 2 months(after demonetization). This variant can easily double it !!
The Quanto/Nuvosport was the chopped version whereas this is the elongated version. And we all know how we Indians see the "Baddi Gaddi"

The only thing is M&M should not be stupid to price it close to the Scorpio!!
