re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

The elongated version looks more proportionate with that high bonnet. Mahindra, while you're at it, can somebody redesign those dangerous doors?

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Caught the car today in Chennai city.

Could not capture the front, it was as ugly/nice as the TUV3OO.

Aren't those tail lams from the old scorpio. It would be abig let down for M&M if they put those on the finished product. Here is the image of scorpio tail lamps for reference:

I am almost certain those are fake. Manufacturers often do this to fool some of unwanted 'car paparazzi'

Mahindra does add bits from older cars on their test vehicles to not give out a lot of hints on the car under test. This will not make into production.

Between, I saw the car being tested near Alandur metro station yesterday. Since there was hardly any time to click, missed taking a pic.

TUV5OO(?) spotted on test,
Quote:
Designed borrowing inspiration from a Battle Tank, the TUV500 receives raised shoulder lines, a flat roof and high ground clearance while it gets a new front grille design with chrome accents, square shaped wheel arches and a rear mounted spare wheel.

Interiors could sport a dual tone in black and beige while central console will be finished with a piano black theme along with forward facing third row seats. A multi info display and multi function steering wheel could also be a part of its interior features.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

I may be the only one to feel this, but looking at this TUV500? I feel it looks way better than the TUV300 in profile.

The 300 looks like it was shrunken, as it was, to fit the sub 4m length regulation.
This one looks quite proportionate and to my eyes a more proper, if old school SUV.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

This TUV 500 or whatever is the final nomenclature, seems to be the logical success to the Scorpio. They should look at giving it some body armour and decent engines/tranny and once it gains critical momentum in sales, the Scorpio can be gradually phased out. This of course is based on the assumption that the body shell of the TUV is better built and inherently safer than the Scorpio, given that its a newer product.

Nothing new there. The chrome lined front grill, square arches etc etc are all a straight lift from the TUV300. The wheelbase should also be the same as the TUV is my guess. IMHO, that last row is going to be a very tight fit and quiet claustrophobic for adults to use unless they move the second row seats a little and make more room. Will be interesting to see how they manage seat height & bench width as rear of the TUV is much higher than the front (at least feels that way even if it really isnt).

M&M will not phase out the Scoprio as its their macho SUV where as the TUV500 would be positioned as a people mover. Ideally the Xylo should be the product that should make way for this new TUV but then you never know with Mahindra. They might plonk in the 1.9L engine into the new TUV and still keep both products in the market.

My attempt at rendering TUV 5OO.
No fancy mods or anything.. Just a simple extended wheelbase TUV and some random background image..

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Spotted testing at Chennai by a Motoroids reader.

Quote:
Visually, apart from the extended rear, the SUV is not likely to be any different from the TUV300. So expect to see the original’s straight lines and boxy demeanour. The rear end will be different from the TUV300’s as the stretched version’s rear screen will feature a slight rake as compared to the upright one on the TUV300. The tail lamps are different than the TUV300 as well. The TUV500 will continue with the 300’s tail gate mounted spare wheel.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Mahindra uses the same wheelbase for many vehicles. Scorpio, Bolero, XYLO, TUV. The core dimensions of the chassis may be the same, but some strengthning here and there, and different front and rear overhangs, suspension powertrain and body style make the difference.

Scorpio does not fit in the the crash norms applicable from April 2019, so a newer scorpio is on the cards, M&M may be trying the longer TUV based on a Scorpio chassis with Scorpio powertrain to ultimately replace the Scorpio.
If equipped with a 2.2Lit mHawk, option of 4X4 and proper AT the car can gain market. The longer version does look more proportional too, in my opinion the only thing they have missed out on is redesigning the door angle.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Looking at TUV-300's, and now these pics, the models remind me of the Mahindra Voyager. That long, boxy thing that they had a couple of decades ago. These look just as good. And the 300 has a clattery engine to boot

I hope it gets rear AC vents and the option of a forward-facing third row of seats instead of jump seats. Any clues on that?

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Mahindra are past masters in stretching their popular models. A few to mind : Bolero XL derived from Bolero, Eavaru from Marshal and now the elongated 3oo.

They seem to target taxi segment with this elongated version.
