The extended variant of the TUV3OO that was spotted testing in the automotive hub of Oragadam.

Rumored to be christened the TUV5OO, this is essentially the TUV3OO that's stretched from the rear to accommodate a full-fledged third row of seats. The vehicle being tested had a front-facing third row in which the head restraints were conspicuous by their absence. With that in place, the TUV5OO (or whatever Mahindra decides to call it) would be a proper 8-seater like the Xylo. Let's not forget the TUV3OO itself has a third row, albeit with side-facing jump seats that provide limited space, comfort and functionality.

Looks like acres and acres of flat sheet metal. So all M&M has to do is buy the steel sheets, just cut them and start welding. No need for any pressing since there doesn't seem to be many creases or curves !

All along, I thought the TUV3OO's only grouse is that it looks as if someone chopped off a portion of its rear and the extended variant's stance would look better. I was wrong. This looks extremely bulky when viewed from the rear. Instead of adding all those additional centimeters after the rear wheels, Mahindra should have split that and increased the wheelbase too. I'm not sure if shedding the camouflage would make this vehicle look better.

Interiors & dashboard captured by a Motorbeam reader in Bengaluru.

Looks very similar in layout to the existing TUV300, on which the longer version is based.

The SUV has been spotted multiple times previously but this time we have the pictures of the dashboard surfacing. The styling of the dashboard looks very similar to the TUV300. The centre console, touchscreen infotainment system, steering wheel and instrument cluster are all identical to the TUV300.
The spotted test mule we believe is a base variant courtesy the steel wheels it sported, however, it also features LED DRLs. The pamphlets stuck on the SUV also reveal that the spotted test mule is a 2WD non-ABS variant which means that there could also be a 4WD variant made available.

The camo is making it appear so. You forgot the top glass portion and bottom plastic bumper. So basically, there isn't even a need to add too much of sheet metal.

The tailgate looks exactly the same as the 300.

TUV isn't that slow. It can keep up quite comfortably with the legal speed limits on most of the highways/expressways.

TUV 300 is not slow at all. It easily keeps up with bigger cars. And if TUV 500 comes with bigger engine, it will embarrass many pricier cars. I like the boxy look of TUV 300. What good is an SUV, if it's not boxy? Too curvy makes SUVs look like huge hatchbacks. TUV 500 should take the game forward from TUV 300.

I hope that happens. Given the way these automakers think, I'd be surprised if the larger TUV is actually mated to a high performance engine. I really hope they don't mess of a good large SUV by coupling it with some economy engine like the one in Bolero etc. Really needs the mHawk from Scorpio. At least 120PS. But then It would make the Scorpio unworthy of the price. So I don't expect a good engine in it. At least for now.

I have been driving TUV 300 (T8) for a year now and even in the sub 4 meter length I find the bumper jumps uneasy at the rear, until unless she is loaded in the trunk. I just cannot imagine what it would do with such rear overhang.

That's a very low quality pic and the smaller text is not really legible. I think its most probably "1.9l mHawk BS4" . Check volkman10's post quoted above that contains a clearer image of one such labels from an earlier set of spy shots.

I also read it as 1.9 but since M&M stable doesn't have any engine with that displacement so thought it would be the 1.5. Did not read older posts thanks for pointing out

On a side note, since this car wont be getting help from the sub 4 meter rules M&M would have gone for the bigger engine.

The overhang actually adds weight behind the rear suspension joints. Afterall its more steel for the frame & the body. Thus reducing the actual bumps a bit. Thats the same reason that our usual commuter buses have a long overhang behind the rear axle. To balance the weight against the engine in the front. Otherwise the weight on the rear wheels is too less & the ride is bumpier in the back.
