Saw the same mule yesterday at Chennai. I also thought it looked much bigger with better proportions than the ultra boxy TUV 300. If M&M lets go of its quirky designs and becomes a bit more traditional, I think it will have a winner in its hands.

As such TUV300 is very popular in TN and I can only see this becoming even more so, if priced right.

BTW, why is this being extensively tested in and around Chennai?

I guess Mahindra has a manufacturing plant in Chennai

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

So, when is TUV300 Plus coming to showrooms?

Like few others on the forum, I too have been thinking that TUV300's only shortcoming was truncated length disproportionate to the vehicle width and height.

So, I would like to see TUV300 Plus in flesh.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Got these pics on whatsapp and it looks to be the T4 base variant

Some things that stood out:
  • D120 badging - Does that mean that the 1.5L engine is tuned to deliver 120 BHP or is this the 1.9L engine?
  • Since the badging says D120, will there be a G i.e petrol variant as well?
  • Did not like the elongated rear. They could have done a better job
  • Elongated housing of rear lamps looks very bad
  • No engine cover
  • Resonator seems to be a lot bigger and hopefully much better that the ones that are used in the TUV300

Edit: The more I stare at the engine bay, the more I think that this is the 1.9L engine and not the 1.5L. All the major pieces like oil cap, coolant reservoir, turbo, vacuum resonator & modulator etc. seem to be assembled very differently when compared to the TUV300.

Those tail-lamp (side profile) looks to be Mahindra's version of floating roof.

M&M has done another XUV : front & rear styling don't match exactly - boxy front, a little more rounded rear.

On second thoughts, this one is a little better than the TUV. Should have used a different name.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

What were the Mahindra design team thinking while designing the side profile of this car? It's just horrid. From A panel to the rear doors the car has too slanted layout, could have done better having straight lines. The tail lamp sections look out of place.

Feel like this design job was given to trainees

All can be forgiven - but what can be done about the tail tamps and the huge rear bumper??

The straight slab sided profile can be masked with cladding to some extent

Hope the top end looks better with more design elements! If they managed to control body-roll this will do well, taxi segment will show strong interest.

This makes me wonder, which was the most good looking handsome car other than the xuv and thar, mahindra ever made? Mahindras have always been that one douchey kid in the class. Unfortunately or fortunately they never appealed to me. At this rate, they never will.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

1] Complete mismatch between front 3/4 and rear 1/4th.

2] Looks like a haphazardly done conversion without any prior design work.

3] No way would anyone take this one seriously especially with the price range it will be operating in.

4] Mahindra had a solid if not spectacular base design which had to be shortened due to under 4m regulations but they have completely lost the plot. The rear and front look like they belong to different vehicles.

5] In an era where consumer is the king and has plenty of choices Mahindra have come up with a half hearted conversion.

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

Something is seriously wrong at Mahindra. Is there a competition to design the ugliest car or something?

Simple straight lines would have made it look so much more presentable, but they just had to mess up by extending random parts to random directions.

Just when you thought Mahindra couldn't design anything uglier than the KUV, they drop another bombshell. What were they thinking?! Whoever designs these has some serious issues (No offence, just a joke).
This looks like they imported the TUV design into photoshop and just stretched it's backside! To quote Clarkson : “I’ve seen gangrenous wounds better looking than this!”

re: The Mahindra TUV300 Plus. EDIT: Priced at Rs. 9.70 lakh

M&M wanted to replace Xylo with TUV 300 plus. Was it necessary to make the replacement uglier? The vehicle has 2 clear divisions; front 3/4 designed by Penninferina and rear undoubtedly by the team who designed Xylo and Quanto.

Good god! This is ugly but then again I am not surprised given Mahindra's past design efforts. They just do not know subtle and classy. Garish and loud is what they always go for. When TUV300 is your best styling effort in recent years, there is something seriously wrong with your design department.

Looks like job sent to manufacturing bypassing design department. Seriously, this is what you can design. If you are somewhere somebody who is associated with this project reading this forum then i think you are not truly worthy for team bhp. I am really really angry.
