Mahindra XUV500 to soon get Intelli-Hybrid tech

Came across this. Introduction of 'Intelli-hybrid' tech on XUV500 in near future. AWD variants not listed as of now.

P.S. Notice the mention of 1% Environment Protection Charge.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 to soon get Intelli-Hybrid tech

Don't know if this is just another marketing gimmick like the micro hybrid or an actual hybrid system. Either ways, looks like they are doing this for the upcoming hexa.
Tax benefits are the reason.
Hers a list of the other additions that the XUV 500 is slated to get:
-eco sense for monitoring the car from your phone. Wear and tear parts and the car location will be displayed
-an emergency call button in case of an accident like the ecosport (this will also be offered to current generation owners)
-android auto
-mood lighting
All in all, welcome additions to the XUV. Let's just hope they also make keyless entry standard on the top end. The only thing that the XUV has feature wise over the Hexa is a 4x4 auto combo

God bless competition

Would love the "On-star" like capability if it was available. Would immensely help the highway warriors.

Delhi VAT on hybrids is 5% (vs 12.5% for regular cars). Elsewhere, I believe it will also be exempt from the 4% infrastructure cess and get a lower excise duty of 12.50%.

Just wish the government incentivised proper hybrids and not these mild deployments which hardly make a difference to the environment.

In that case, would this be passed on to the Customer making the car cheaper or Mahindra gets to make extra profits by increasing the MRP and keeping the ex-showroom price same?

Re: Mahindra XUV500 to soon get Intelli-Hybrid tech

A small question!

How is this Intelli Hybrid different from the existing start/stop system which the Manual variants are already getting now? I wonder why this version will get a tax incentive and why not those previous variants.

Also, any update on whether this system will be launched in the Automatic variants also? Currently, the micro-hybrid system is offered only on manual variants.

Mahindra might have added torque boost feature to already existing start-stop system (similar to Suzuki SHVS) and upgraded battery and motor-generator unit to higher capacity for torque boost. Torque boost will make it into Hybrid category even though advantages w.r.t. fuel consumption and emissions are very very minimal.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 to soon get Intelli-Hybrid tech

Eagerly awaiting the launch of XUV Hybrid. Why isn't there any news of this? Even though the FAME incentive of 13000 is withdrawn the excise duty benefit remains and it will surely help in improving features and yet keeping the cost low. I really wish to purchase this vehicle and have been waiting for a long long time.

Any useful information on this would be highly appreciable.

Re: Mahindra XUV500 to soon get Intelli-Hybrid tech

Wonder really on how the current vehicle classifications as Hybrid is cleverly acheived by manufacturers with no real significant gain in emissions which should be the real purpose of the Hybrid range.

Since cars are already heavily taxed overall, if this (hybrid) results in cheaper cars on road with manufacturers passing on the tax benefits then very well else they make a neat profit by playing around with the regulations.

Unfortunately in the recent update XuV does not get the hybrid system like Scorpio and won't have those excise benefits. Shocking since they usually are smart in making decisions .
