These are of Muthoot Finance group. More for like their internal security.

The Tamil Nadu government has incorporated Hyundai Creta, 8 Innova Crysta, and 20 Bolero Jeeps into the Greater Chennai Police fleet, with a total cost of ₹6.5 crore. Since 2022, the Chennai Police has introduced 202 four-wheelers and 81 two-wheelers, amounting to ₹59.73 crore.

The Mumbai police have inducted the new Scorpio in their fleet. The cop car in black was an absolute head Turner. Saw it on the western express highway in Mumbai a few days back. I was driving hence couldn't click any pics.

The link posted by you also has a video. :thumbs up

The source doesn't mention, however, how many units were taken in or just a single Jimny.

Like the Gypsy, it is indeed a product to take the govt machinery by storm given its small footprint, be it the kerb weight, the samll size, hassle free ownership or the extreme performence required for govt duties. Compared to bulkier SUVs, Jimny is a fit for any Indian terrain.

Very interesting.

And Im happy to see these are of the same colour as mine. There is no doubt at all that the Jimny makes a lot of sense for governmental duties and usage. Mainly the small size, light weight, go anywhere and easy servicing. Plus the inherent toughness.

If other Govt departments follow suit, then for sure the Jimny has a long and interesting innings before it, in India.

As an owner I will absolutely vouch for the Jimny being a far more evolved and practical vehicle for our conditions in both urban and rural India, along with being perfect for mountains, beaches, forests and deserts too!

A Jimny makes perfect sense for cops, which helps them navigate through narrow roads without having to slow down for bad roads in case of a chase. Another reason for an enthusiast cop to turn up for work every day!

Looking at this news, Indian Army might as well replace the ageing old Gypsys with the new Jimnys, which would make it a perfect successor of Gypsy, the mountain goat!
