In 2007, Hyundai gifted 100 Accent police patrol cars to Tamil Nadu Police, of which 75 cars were given to Law & Order, 21 to Traffic Police and the remaining 4 to add elegance to the Chief Minister's convoy, according to Wikipedia. Wikipedia has also published the photograph of a police patrol car:

If this Tata Nano belongs to Goa Traffic Police, why does it have MH plates?

or am I missing something here?

, but I wouldn't be surprised if it has Martian plates. Goan "police" often come slipper-clad and have a way of intimidating people and extorting money for "offenses" like walking on the beach after 10 pm. Especially if you are young, your Hindi/ Marathi is poor and your car has KL plates. Lesson learnt: Do not carry more than a few hundred bucks in your wallet. And not least because of pickpockets.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

How about dropping a TJet engine into this so that can be a real prowl car.

I like the emergency light at the top. Appears really cute
Would definitely want to see them in action. I wonder how the siren would sound.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

Actually what I have heard about this is that this Nano is being used as a test car by Maharashtra cops and Goa cops and also maybe implemented in other states as well. This car was first spotted in Mumbai before it was brought down to Goa.

According to me this is a good move for the city cops cause it is a small car, easy to move around and park and also is fast enough for the city.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

I think it should be helpful for the traffic police because of its small size and to quickly move around within the city.

Regarding chasing and catching someone. Frankly i have seen that happening only in the movies. Otherwise in real life i see most of the police vehicles in cities doing rounds or on VIP duty.

True, I agree with amitwlele. This is good move for City Surveillance.
In actual the car looks good in this Avatar.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

Indian cops don't need fast cars. They find a discreet spot under a tree and suddenly jump in front of unsuspecting road users (Tadaaaaa!). Tata Nano suits them fine.

Chasing and catching is a thing of past, in fact, down here in Kerala, I guess police have been banned from chasing any vehicle, as it almost always leads to accidents.

Very unlike its stock looks, this version looks cool!. The paint job at the sides could have been better, but the good thing is that the idea suits the car well.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

Well the police doesnt require all cars for chasing but for other purposes too.

So the Nano can actually be used for police's city work.

Infact in US, police use a small car like this for checking parking violations & issuing tickets.

Isn't this an all electric 3-wheeler with top speed of around 40-50 mph? Have never seen it go fast. most of the time it is less than 40 mph. More like a golf-cart.

Re: Goan Traffic Police's latest RIDE

Not too sure, always thought so but never confirmed it, but in narrow lanes of Jersey its pretty fast

The point was that a small slow car could also be of use for police & not just the high speed & big ones
