re: Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh

HONDA WR-V to feature 1.5 iVTEC & 1.5 iDTEC Engine Options.

IAB reports that the upcoming Honda WR-V will feature engine options from City

Quote:
Along with the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine, Honda will offer the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine in the Honda WR-V.
Quote:
The diesel engine, as evident in the images, is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission. The petrol model is likely to get a 5-speed manual transmission as standard and have a continuously variable transmission as an option

Wrong info by IAB.

The WR-V will come with the 1.2L, 1199cc, 89HP i-VTEC heart, same as the Jazz.

Every car comes like that. There is nothing wrong with Honda in this regard. My Swift came with a load of dust inside as well, but there wasn't a spec during delivery. There may be fine swirls which anyway the vehicles will acquire during ownership, a good paint sealant + timely wax should take care on the long run.

I think WR-V is designed to be a sub 4 meter vehicle to avail the excise duty benefit. If that is so, it would definitely come with 1.2 litre petrol engine and 1.5 litre diesel engine. If Honda provides option of a higher capacity petrol engine, then the variant would not be eligible for excise benefit and in that case it would have to be priced close to the diesel model which may not make much sense.

Nothing wrong in it. My worry is the cleaning method these guys employ.

Fixing the swirls on an already thin paint is what I am worried about. Hope I made it clear.

re: Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh

If Honda has equipped the car as per the leaks at the forums , it will be a worthy contender to the Brezza & I hope Honda has a top of the line fully equipped petrol automatic for the Indian Users . I wont mind buying this over the Brezza if this has similar or better equipment levels & paying extra for it . How about a premium petrol version just like the Ecosport , 1.2 Litre engine is okay but would feel lathargic in a car positioned as an SUV .

Any information on safety features? Will Honda going forward start giving 6 airbags (as in i20 Active and Ford Ecosport) in top variants of all new models?

If not the 1.2 litre engine, I feel they should first get rid of that horrid chrome front grille on their cars. It should be an optional accessory. The 1.5 litre engine is really nice, I just wish they would make it available from the beginning.

Agree completely here. After the type Z in 2002, they lost their head completely with the dolphin shape. They forgot to create machines that give you a wicked smile; when you floor the accelerator!

re: Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh

If the WR-V really came with the 1.5 i-VTEC it may be priced out of contention, just like the BR-V. The BR-V CVT is almost as expensive as the City V-CVT variant sans many features and it's narrow width.

re: Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh

I too join the chorus for 1.5L Petrol on W-RV. Considering there is little mileage difference between the two and significant performance difference, potential buyer would have any day preferred the 1.5L option. The vehicle is made to look rugged and aggressive but comes with a rather tame engine simply doesn't make the narrative interesting from sales and marketing angle.

Honda probably gains with excise benefits and margins on the 1.2L engine. How I really wish, at additional 60-70k over the 1.2L, that Honda offers 1.5L.

No sir. It will most likely have to be longer than 4m.

The wheelbase is 25mm longer than the Jazz, which is 2530mm

Now why would you increase the wheelbase (with the attendant chassis modification required), if you would not lengthen the vehicle? Of course this wheelbase is lesser than the 2662mm of the BRV, so I could be wrong as well, but my bet would be on the WRV being longer than the Jazz.

From the same source in my earlier post,

WR-V's dimensions:

Length = 3999mm,
Width = 1734mm,
Height = 1601mm,
Wheelbase = 2555mm.

Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh-capture.jpg

Comparatively, Jazz is at:

Length = 3955mm,
Width = 1694mm,
Height = 1544mm,
Wheelbase = 2530mm.

Honda WR-V production begins in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 7.75 lakh-untitled.jpg

So, the WR-V is 44mm longer, 40mm wider and 57mm higher than the Jazz.

Still below the 4 meter mark thus it will come with the 1.2 Litre engine to avail excise benefits . I wonder who in the government put forth this mind numbling excise duty benefit which hasn't had any benefits for the public .

Fantastic, so it is basically the Jazz-Cross in a new moniker. But that means I'm pretty much booking the Creta as things stand.
