It appears that Hyundai India has taken design inspiration from HB20S model available in Brazil. I see lot of similarity w.r.t to front grill / bumper design as well as rear design.

This looks a lot better than what we're going to get here!

2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift feature list revealed. LED DRL now available in SX (O) variant. Driver airbag and ABS now standard across the range. Touch screen system from facelift Grand i10 makes its debut in the facelifted 2017 Xcent.

re: Hyundai Xcent Facelift caught testing. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh

ABS stands deleted from the first 3 variants, while Electro-Chromic Mirror (ECM) is struck off from the entire 2017 Xcent facelift's lineup!

Driver seat height adjuster removed from the S variant, and no Cluster Ioniser in the Automatic Climate Control unit of the top variant. Mobile Phone docking is offered only in the new S AT variant.

Once again, Hyundai disappoints!

On the flip side, dual airbags and Alternator Management System (AMS) is standard across the range. The new variant, E+, gets quite a few goodies.

Not sure what Hyundai is smoking these days. They are removing features from their cars which made them feel VFM, even at a slight premium over in-segment competitors.

Seems like nobody is complaining, because the sales are still coming in truckloads.

What's with removing ABS and providing airbags?! It's like saying, now that your braking is going to be compromised, we ensured we give you airbags.

Quite a confusion there for me. Is ABS standard or Dual Airbags? The chart seems to mention something else. Also, what's the base variant - E? The chart is quite confusing here as well.

First of all it is definitely no a good looking facelift and secondly it will come with lesser features. I think Hyundai have realised that they can never beat Maruti and so they have decided to stop trying too.

Zooming in:

Hyundai Xcent Facelift caught testing. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh-1492174213935.jpg

Check the "Features Addition" section, and the "Features Deletion" section.

For the 2017 facelift, "E" is the new Base, and a new variant has been added above it, called the "E+".

The present-gen Xcent came in 4 variants - Base, S, SX & SX(O).

Compare the "Addition/Deletion" section above, with the present-gen Xcent's variant-wise features (this should give everyone a better idea):

Hyundai Xcent Facelift caught testing. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh-12.jpg

Red boxes indicate deleted features,

Green stars indicate added features,

Additional features are written below in Green and highlighted in "S" according to upgraded/downgraded variants.

In addition, the new Base (E) variant gets hubcaps on wheels, instead of full-wheel covers. And, the SX(O) gets a downgraded FATC (Fully Automatic Temperature Control) unit, without the "Cluster Ioniser" feature.

This is what Toyota did to previous gen Innova in it's last face-lift; can't understand East Asian's obsession with Aston Martin'esque grille/airdam. Overall a not so desirable facelift; Xcent's rear gains what it's front lost- Character. The car otherwise is a reasonably good option in its segment.

re: Hyundai Xcent Facelift caught testing. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh

Well, I am not sure why is the looks being emphasized for the Xcent so much here.

The segment to which Xcent belongs, is not for the beauty contests anyway. The Xcent is all about practicality and comfort. And facelift or not, the car will continue to deliver what it's supposed to - a highly practical alternative to premium hatchbacks with its large boot, ease of drive, good quality cabin and ride.

At the same time, I would rather reserve my views on the looks till I see the new car in flesh. Digital images can be misleading sometimes.

I only wish Hyundai provide AT transmission in top end variants.

Looks really horrendous, the front. Hyundai should have left it alone. That is not going to affect the sales though. The rear looks good.

From the above set of latest pics:

The rear now looks updated and contemporary
The front looks aftermarketish, overdone and gaudy
The wheels look a size or two smaller than the wheelwells

re: Hyundai Xcent Facelift caught testing. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 5.38 lakh

Couldn't agree more with some of the above comments on front looks. It looks overdone for sure.

I hope that after this they don't do a similar treatment to Elite i20, it can make potential buyers run away!!!

And what is with deletion of features, looks like success is going to Hyundai's head, it happened with i20 too. Come on Hyundai, charge bit more but do not delete features (that too safety!)

Not sure how it looks in real, but I somehow like the new front end in pics.

But whether these sub-4m sedans are selling or not, all manufacturers have to come to a common agreement, and decide that they won't make sedans under 4m hereafter. All these models have to be converted to wagons of 4m in length.

Building a bonnet, 5-seater passenger area and boot under 4m while ensuring that they are cohesive and are in sync, is a huge challenge.

Or, it should be a 2-seater 2-door sedan!
