Porsche launches Cayenne S Platinum Edition at Rs. 1.27 crore

Porsche has launched the Cayenne S Platinum Edition in India, which is available with both petrol and diesel engine options. The Cayenne S Platinum Edition petrol is priced at Rs. 1.27 crore, while the diesel variant costs Rs. 1.31 crore (all prices ex-showroom, Maharashtra). The Platinum Edition comes with some convenience feature additions and cosmetic tweaks, while remaining mechanically identical to the regular Cayenne S.

Exterior changes made to the Platinum Edition models include new 21-inch alloy wheels and body coloured wheel arch extensions. The SUV's colour palette comes with two standard shades - White and Black and 4 metallic colours - Jet Black, Mahogany, Carrara White and Rhodium Silver.

Feature additions on the Cayenne S Platinum Edition include bi-xenon headlamps with Porsche Dynamic Light System, front and rear park assist, automatically dimming exterior and interior mirrors and leather seats. The front seats get heating function and 8-way adjustment, while the door sill guards come with Platinum Edition badges. The SUV also comes with Porsche Communication Management infotainment system with navigation and a Bose surround sound system.

No mechanical changes have been made to the Cayenne S Platinum edition. It is thus available with two engine options: a 3.6-litre, twin turbo, six-cylinder petrol rated at 414 BHP and 550 Nm of torque, and a 4.2-litre eight-cylinder diesel that churns out 380 BHP and 850 Nm of torque. Both engines are available with an 8-speed Tiptronic S gearbox.

The Porsche Cayenne is now officially a Guinness World Record holder – the German SUV has taken the crown of heaviest aircraft pulled by a production car during a recent publicity stunt at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

Quote:
The new record was set using a standard £66,676 Cayenne S Diesel, which makes use of a 4.1-litre V8 twin-turbo producing 380bhp, but more importantly, 850Nm of torque. With those figures it was able to tug a colossal, 285 tonne, 516 seat, 73 metres long Airbus A380 supplied by Air France over a distance of 42 m
More often than not world records are set by fine margins, but the Cayenne has taken the record by a significant gulf – 115 tonnes to be precise. The previous Guinness World Record for heaviest aircraft pulled by a production car was set back in 2013 by a Nissan Patrol, which managed to tow 170 tonnes of aeroplane
