I got this from a sales rep. The prices should be out on Monday. You can check with your sales rep for confirmation. This won't apply if you've invoiced the car and paid in full. At least, thats what I was told. Also, these are Chennai prices.

There was a ₹10k price increase just now; are you sure? Could be a sales trick to make you cough up the full amount!

Well, the Rs 10k price hike is on the ex-showroom price. After they calculate the insurance and other costs on top of it, the prices are likely to shoot up. Those who bought at "introductory prices" can consider themselves lucky

City's loss, Corolla's gain. As such the ZX is uncomfortably close to the Corolla VL CVT.

Somehow this seems highly unlikely to me as well. This would be suicide if Honda goes ahead with it. My guess would be a 10 to 30k price bump, 10k for s/sv/V, 20k for vx and 30 for zx probably. Websites don't seem to be updated with new prices yet.

I hope so too. Ive booked a Honda City VMT but if these prices are indeed coming into effect, I may be looking at other options.

spoke to my S.A. He's unaware of any such move. Has promised to revert tomorrow. No news on the net also. I think your S.A. might be trying to get you committed by taking the full amount. Keeping fingers crossed.

I have few questions which might make it easier for you.

1. Have you been alloted a car ?
2. If yes, Has the car been invoiced in your name
3. Is the color/model combo you are looking for available at dealer stockyard ?
4. If not, have they given the timeline for new car arrival.

Based on the answers, I can tell you if price hike will be applicable to you or not.

Thank you CarguyNish. My responses below:

1. Yes
2. No it has not been invoiced. For it to be invoiced in my name, I need to pay in full. I was under the impression that I should pay in full only after PDI inspection.
3. It's not yet available in the stockyard. Waiting for availability for PDI inspection.
4. Yes, the new car should come by 23 of April.

Has the dealer shared the VIN number for you ? If yes, decode it & if it's a March 2017 make, the old price should apply and you should pay the same at time of delivery.

If it's an April 2017 make, you will get it at current price if
1. It's delivered before price hike
2. If the full payment is done with registration being done by dealer.
3. Invoice price is same as last month's stocks.

Check these & if they match you, you should be good to go.

According to all dealers in Chennai, there is no City VMT petrol in stock. Based on my previous discussion with the sales head, they are all prior to April make. However, the dealer pays Honda as soon as it leaves the Honda facility (March 28-30). So though they pay a lower amount, when the car reaches Chennai the new prices come into effect and when they invoice it, the higher amount has to be paid by the customer. In my case, they went with another customer who was willing to pay the whole amount before April 1. The earliest ones available are on April 23-24.
They currently have only SVMT in stock so I might consider that instead. As far as I know, I will be missing out on:
1. Reverse camera along with digipad (former more important)
2, Alloy wheels
3, Push start button
4. Speakers and no tweeters

I got VIN (for SVMT) from one dealer and that's for Feb 2017 make. The other dealer isn't giving the VIN stating its Honda policy.

That's just completely wrong . They should share the VIN. Which dealer in Chennai?

You drop an email directly to Honda customer care if they are not going to share the VIN.

Olympia Honda, Vadapalani. However, after I said other dealers are providing it , he agreed to share in a bit.
I will be going to do a PDI today sometime this afternoon. Checking with people I know who can come for PDI. If anyone is willing to spare some time, please let me know

Re: 2017 Honda City Facelift : A Close Look

Just checked with my S.A. He says a 4% hike on ex-showroom price with effect from 01 May and an announcement to this effect is expected shortly. I have told him to kiss my order goodbye if my car is not delivered before the price hike. I'd rather go with a brv cvt / Creta AT at this price point.
