On my recent highway outing my City CVT was shuddering badly under braking at speeds of 110 to 120 kmph, just gentle braking not panic. Surprising that there was no problem at all in the urban environment: it was smooth as ever and braking posed no problems. So I called Capital Honda Meenambakkam, Chennai and they came and took the car and after examination they say that the disc is scoured due to some stone and may need to be replaced (₹4500 cost

) or skimmed. I raised a stink on the phone: since I've been getting the car serviced regularly at Capital Honda, Meenambakkam, Chennai. Last service was 07-09-2018 and was charged ₹8345. The car is just 1.5 years old and run just 8000 kms in that time and owner driven only, how could the discs get damaged? I said, I've 5 year extended warranty why would this not get covered under that: they say brake discs aren't covered. I've mailed Honda Car India Limited (HCIL) regards the issue and they have sent me a ticket number and have assured they will take it up. I hoping for a replacement of the disc under warranty or goodwill, the brake pads are fine, I believe (according to Capital Honda). Since I raised a stink, Capital Honda has also taken pictures of the disc and mailed HCIL for a resolution and told me when I called that it may take around 48 hours to hear from HCIL.

In the meantime, I've grown fond of my ex: Hyundai Elantra GLS 2005 and enjoying the cosetting ride she provides

She's one helluva beat car!

They may replace the brake discs on a goodwill gesture. Discs are wear & tear item and will not be covered under warranty / extended warranty.

Update on the scoured discs Honda India didn't budge but the dealer Capital Honda did. The dealer had quoted ₹ 5300 incl labor for the disc change, the Capital Honda customer care exec called me up and reduced it to ₹3564 (all inclusive) in view of the premature failure. Got the work done and the vehicle was delivered this noon.

Got the Digipad replaced. Took around 10 days for the new one to arrive from the company. Took roughly 15 to 20 mins to install and change the settings, and another 30 mins for the warranty claim to be processed by the dealer.

Which version did you get as a replacement? Digipad 1.0 or 2.0?

Digipad 1.0. Upon asking the technician that why Digipad 2.0 can't be fitted in the city, he said that the hardware is different on Digidpad 2.0 and won't fit. To this I politely replied ok. No point arguing.

Did anyone upgrade the stock horns to a better sounding one? I'm planning to upgrade to Hella Chrome Trumpet type horns but a bit skeptical about the connectors. Any pointers / help in this regards please?

I have done the exact same upgrade on my 2014 City

I’ve had this issue in the past as well for the 2014 Honda city, very annoying. It happened after pads change as well, we had to change the discs then.

Mine 18 month old City has seen two Digipad 1.0 replacement. Thankfully both done under warranty and without question. First change was done within first month of purchase (May'18), last in 1st week of Nov'18. Overall Digipad 1.0 sucks, I am very skeptical about its long term reliability.

I am asking this question on behalf of my colleague who owns a Honda Petrol and has completed 12k Kms. Sundaram Honda has charged 1947 + tax for AC evaporator/ filter cleaning. Can anyone explain what do they do in this?

Hi, I booked a Petrol VMT today.

Few questions to the experienced Bhpians:
1) Are there basic checks we can do to identify I am not being handled pre-cancelled cars or inventory blocked for some other reason?
2) Can I change alloys without voiding warranty? It's 3 yr standard warranty
3) Insurance total came to around 38k (20k+10k+8k) for zero-dep b2b. I chose to let go of coverfox to minimise hassle. Is this too high a cost?
4) I have read in reviews the City is undertyred. What would be the recommended tyre change (size and brand) that I should do on day of delivery?
