Maruti Suzuki has officially announced a service campaign(aka "Recall") for a possible transmission issue in their Grand Vitara SUV manufactured between June 2008 and May 2013. As per report, around 151 of these SUVs are affected.

This appears to be a global recall, as Suzuki Australia too notified the same a few days ago.

Only 151 of Grand Vitaras were sold in 5 years ?
I understand it was not segment leader, yet only 30 cars per annum is just too low.

Or only a few had the particular defect ?

The Grand Vitara being a CBU never really sold more than a couple of units on an average per month. So 30 cars per annum looks like a reality.

This recall covers only Manual Transmission and hence a very small quantity. Having said that, the overall sales figure will have additional few hundreds and nothing more.
