re: The 2020 next-gen Mahindra Thar : Driving report on page 86

A stunning looking machine indeed. Mahindra have nailed the design, although they should have their own signature look for the Thar as it seems very Wrangler-like. Not complaining though. The colour options are amazing too. The Mystic Copper is looking very premium to me. Should have given the Thar a bigger infotainment system. But again, not at all complaining. And the engines, my god, finally the 150hp mStallion is here. Really hope they price it very attractively like they did with the XUV5OO. This will attract much more customers other than just Off-Road enthusiasts. Hope to see a lot of Thar(s) on the roads.

Super launch by Mahindra. Wishful thinking - tax waiver (no tax on Thar to promote make in India initiative.) Gift by govt on Independence day.

Sharing link posted by DSD cars. Looks like media drive.

The grille looks puny and boot space is impractical. It's not of my taste. Shall look elsewhere.

OK, now this is some mean machine which will definitely please different types of people. For people like me who would want to drive this mostly on roads, this is what was not there in previous generation of Thar. I like the interior and exterior design plus the Turbo Petrol variant. This definitely lifts the grey cloud of this Corona Time with the lightning bolt.

Also with BS6 kicking in, the MHawk diesel engine with the SCR system will need that Diesel Exhaust Adblue Fluid replacement every few thousand KMs, it is going to be a headache.

Agreed that this short wheelbase version is truly suited for hard offroading needs, eventually in the next iterations, I hope that Mahindra will bring out the extended wheelbase version with a lot larger cargo space behind the rear seats and with rear doors.

The roof mounted speakers behind the front occupant's ears could be a pain-point.

This is most likely going to be priced in the C segment category.
Kudos to Mahindra for bringing out a modern proper offroader with relatively robust and simple mechanicals. Very much tempted to buy one although I don't have a use case for it (ie., wrt offroading). All the niggles, if any will get addressed in the first year and the V2 version will be the perfect one (just like the Harrier's case)

Oh WOW !!
What a changeover. Though there are lot of 'I will take Thar if its in 15 lakh budget', I feel this will be only in papers & forums. Even now, This cannot be a primary car for family.
A 5-Door version in the same Thar would sell like hot cakes.

It's a Thar. It needs an offroad bumper!

I feel you guys about the grill. But I'm surprised nobody said anything about that eyesore of a bumper. Probably there for pedestrian safety. But hey, what's a Thar without some offroad mods.

Yay? or Nay?

Edit: Adding the original below for easy comparison. That bumper looks very DC Design to me now.

Finally!
I was never this eager about any other Car unveil, Of course it is not a car, it is JEEP. The jeep lover in me is overwhelmed. Hope price would be as attractive as the Jeep itself.

Rear section could have been made any better? Lots of space lost with that wheel arch. Was hoping that it would be possible to squeeze in 3 people at the rear to use as a typical family (Husband, Wife, Kid, Parents) and only car. But this view isn't promising for that hope. And is there any boot space.

Gray just transforms the car. Old school Jonga vibes. Rocky Beige and Grey are my favorite colours for the Thar.
