Mahindra shouldn't resort to misleading people with the "bhp" marketing....
I believe there is a grey area between the two routes to torque multiplication. One either chooses the older, higher comp. ratio path (= higher peak stresses = higher MEP), thereby raising stress thresholds & adversely affecting reliability & longevity, in order to get higher torque.

Or one takes the more contemporary CR path where you raise average MEP & thus get higher average torque without appreciably raising comp ratio (=peak stresses) by controlling injection timing to encourage efficient combustion near the after-burning region. This needs high scavenging efficiency and is the reason why one does not find a CR diesel without T/charging.

But obviously there is a limit to how much jugglery one can do even with CR tech, without sacrificing those old chestnuts – reliability & longevity. And as Dirty Dan mentions (and as I'm sure you know better than most!), in the deep Himalayas (and parts of Kumaon are right there), reliability, durability & abuse friendliness are de rigueur!

Is this a legit render based on Mahindra's test mules/future design language?

All changes seem to be inspired from the Wrangler. Here's a Google pic for comparison;

As pointed out above. It's such a blatant and low effort ripoff of the wrangler picture. Motorbeam did not even make the effort to identify already known design aspects from the camouflaged test mules.

Well it does looks more Wrangler-ish (squat with rounded edges) and less Classic Jeep-ish (tall with sharp edges)

Oh, man. Its poignant that the first pic in that post has to tease me with the four-door Commander/Marshall.

I agree the spotted car does look very Wrangler.

That's no jeep anymore. But they have valid reasons to butcher it. Hope at least the Thar DI in current form stays in production for rural & Roxor markets. Else the jeep will be lost to the world unless FCA brings in an OHV replica to fill gap left by Roxor. But then it's FCA, they won't.

Thar DI has been discontinued in India. The Roxor may continue depending on the export demand. It is sold as an off-road/farm use only vehicle and hence doeesn't have to meet the stringent emission and safety norms in USA.

I am really loving what I am seeing here
  1. Sporty seats
  2. Leather seats (I maybe wrong but looks like leather)
  3. Front facing rear seats
  4. Hard Top

Why has Mahindra not released this 2 years back? I did a small TD of Thar before purchasing TUV 300 and due to the rattling noises, lack of basic comforts and lack of any safety features were major turn down from my family.

Mahindra please take my money already.

Had a chance to follow one for few KM on the highway, you better start saving Entire car is almost looks ground-up, dynamics were good at triple digit speeds, brakes were looking decent and okayish nose dive. Rear didn't have leaf springs if I saw it right.

This car will surely appeal to the masses too, creating a new segment!

Now this is the update I was expecting. A lot of people were continously complaining about the interior panels just beside the seats where the body sheet was exposed. Now it is beautifully covered with panels.

Wonderful!!
This will be the wrangler a lot of people dreamt of but couldn't buy because of the exorbitant price.

Have been waiting patiently for this since the time the spy pics started doing rounds!
