Mahindra lost the license to manufacture Jeep and the right to use the name in the late 90s or early 2000s.
Hence I do believe this could be construed as a mark which is deceptively similar to that of Jeep.

re: The 2020 next-gen Mahindra Thar : Driving report on page 86

Saw the car again today for 100th time probably, this one had fatter tyres than usual, was a hardtop with front facing rear seats. Front looks production ready, side indicators were on the front wheel-arch as the mirrors were of old type.

Cars width masks it height well, might not be as traffic friendly as our current Thar!

Watching this car often makes me feel that, if they do have a plan for fully kitted automatic, then this will be priced on par with XUV500(current one at least). I am just thinking from their point of view and I could be 100% of the mark.

Can you confirm if there are two bucket seats on the rear or is it a regular bench seat? In one of the previous spy shots, only portion of the rear seat was visible and it looked like a bucket seat

Car was too tall and rear windscreen was too small to see anything inside. All I could see was a headrest facing the front.

Wow is this really a Thar? Looks like Rubicon.

I just love the big tires and butch presence. Can't wait for the release. I hope Mahindra prices it sensibly, it will hit hard on Jeep Compass I guess. I cannot think of any other vehicle that will give competition to Thar. Gurkha has lost it already long back.

That is not the Thar. It's the Wrangler. Not many vehicles are capable of dwarfing the Fortuner on Indian roads.

The Fortuner in the picture is loaded to its maximum capacity as the gap in the wheel arch is non existent. As mentioned, it’s heavily modified Thar.

Are we ruling out the possibility of the donor vehicle (of this modified one) being Armada/Marshall/Bolero? The wheelbase seems to suggest a longer platform.

Saw this one in Chennai Traffic yesterday. Couldn't manage to click pictures. It looked exactly similar to the photos shared above. The Thar is now wider and the width masks the height of the vehicle. Judging by the looks, I assume that Thar will be priced at 50% higher than the current version.

This doesn't seem to have locking hubs at the front. So the variants might start from a 2wd soft top, at the price point of the current thar crde 4wd.

Just noticed that none of the spy pictures show the hubs. What the drivetrain would be like?
