Fiat Punto rear seats can be tumbled and double folded - here is a pic I got from Team Bhp:

This feature is there in all their cars. Even my old Uno had tumbledown seats.

Coming back to the main topic, the oldest and cheapest car with a flatbed loading is the Maruti Omni. Remove the rear seat and you have an amazing loading bay. Well it lacks safety features and creature comforts but if you are looking for a cheap vehicle with a flat loading bay with private registration, nothing beats an Omni. The eeco comes in a close second.

That's exactly why we can have the information here !

Yes, agree !

Maybe a bit OT but is there a similar thread discussing Hatchbacks/SUV with a 60:40 rear-seat split fold-down? I think it is a pretty useful feature when parents are travelling with a single kid (which is quite common these days) and have some extra luggage.

This was a deal-breaker for me while considering the Tata Tiago , which is otherwise a super VFM package.

Thanks for this thread. I will add " flat bed" to the list of must haves features in my next vehicle...

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

I think 'most' cars would be able to provide a flat bed. In my Alto, I can remove the seat-base and then flip over the seat-back to get a flat bed. IMO this should be possible in any car.

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

Just a quick question. Where do the rear headrests go when folding the seat forward. The Cruze would have had a flat area if not for the protruding rear head rest. I can remove the headrest each time but are there vehicles that take into account the headreast too in this scenario.

Maruti 800 and Alto have this facility. Here are shots of my K10

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

This is a massively important "feature" for me, and one of the reasons why I will NEVER buy a marazzo, despite loving everything else about it.

I mean 1055 Liters is good number to throw about in academic conversations, but then, its not really usable. Atleast in that shape.

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

A related question.

How many times do we actually *use* this feature of space freed up by folding rear seats (flatbed or not).

In my 20+ years of owing various cars, i have never ever used this feature (folding down the rear seats for extra luggage).

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

I can relate to this so well! Had taken a Zoom car Hexa for an airport run. Had to fit 8 large suitcases and 3 strollers along with a pram in it. To my surprise found out that the seats don't fold flat. The cargo area is badly wasted. If the seats folded flat, we would have been easily able fit the suitcases more securely. Had to push 4 big ones and two strollers from the rear hatch and the remaining 4 from the passenger side door. Pics below. The Crysta pictured in opening posts scores so much above the Hexa in this regard!

Are you referring to your kids sleeping on flat beds while you are driving? If yes, I think it’s very dangerous as they would not be using child seats or seat belts. But if it is for having a sleep while the car is stationary, then it would be a good to have feature.

Re: Cars with seats folding down into a flat cargo area

Any updates on the recent car launches with such a useful feature? At least my Triber doesn't have a flat folding seats function in what I have tested. Any updates from recent additions in the Indian Automotive Scene would be helpful for future buyers.

Depends on the person but I have used this feature several times to transport a bicycle (front wheel removed).
