Re: Chevrolet to stop selling cars in India? EDIT: Confirmed on page 8

Went to metro chevrolet yesterday to enquire about the offer on Cruze after reading those online news articles. The sales person with all his attitude said 'Sir, those news are bogus. We have already sold off all our stocks of cruze, if you want we can order for you from the company with a net discount of 2.8 lacs on road which makes the MT version to be 14L on road (with a take it or leave it attitude). Finally shook hands and came out of the showroom.

Since the showroom is closing down he must be on notice period

Btw came across cartoq news claiming Cruze MT for 9.99 ex-showroom. Imagine cruze diesel for the price of City V iVtec. But doubtful if anybody would like to invest in a chevy now

How much did you sell it for?
Sold it for 90k. It had its positives such as a extremely responsive low end, nice ac and decent handling. But it had too many things failing or breaking and even the service was slow and unresponsive with 0 diagnosis skills.

Re: Chevrolet to stop selling cars in India? EDIT: Confirmed on page 8

I have a 2013 Sail Uva with 59k kms done.

When the news broke, I went around and tried to shop for a new car. Found the S Cross very competent and the Aspire as super good value for money.

But I could not get my heart to sell a car with no problems in it.

Today Chevy service center called for my service reminder. That call sounded so sweet to my parched ears.

I will update once I get the odo to the 60k line and get it done up.
If they are able to maintain the same level of comfort, the car can stay with me for much longer than 2018 when its loan runs out.

Now Autocar has the news of cracking discounts as well. A Beat at 3 lacs ex showroom!

I would buy it if i were in the market for a Kwid/Alto/Eon segment.

How else would the dealers keep themselves running! Their future depends solely on service now.

The bigger challenge would be to keep them disciplined, with the parent company not there to monitor affairs regarding billing and quality of spares. For those who have invested big money in building up these centers, the sole aim would be to get profits/ minimize losses now, before they are able to move on to another brand.

Saw a camouflaged New Beat being tested near their Talegaon plant last saturday. Only reason I can think of is that GM must be testing it for its export markets.

Re: Chevrolet to stop selling cars in India? EDIT: Confirmed on page 8

GM is burning too many bridges. In effect, it is sealing any future opportunities to re-enter the country. Dealers who have invested crores & have stuck with the brand through thick & thin are unhappy with the settlement offered. Peugeot left the country in a hurry and had to watch all the action from the sidelines. I'm afraid GM is being penny wise & pound foolish here.

Quote:
A dealer operating a couple of showrooms in central India said that GM offered Rs 75 lakh as compensation for a total investment of around Rs 6 crore for setting up a showroom. “There are three options we are examining. Some individual dealers are looking at filing civil suits, those who have invested in new greenfield showrooms are considering criminal cases, and we are also evaluating the option of filing a class action suit in the United States,” a second dealer-principal with GM told ET.

Hi

I am being offered a Cruze LTZ Automatic at 15.5 lakhs on road Mumbai by a dealer. Colour has to be necessarily white, which I would have anyways chosen.

Is this a good buy?

Purely from a spares supply and ASS aspect.

Thanks
Umashankar

Buying a chevy now will be the most foolish decision. Even if they offer it at half the price, my opinion is to stay away from them. What you gain now will be losing during service, indefinite wait and resale.
