The upcoming Compass was caught testing in a fleet of test mules by a Shifting Gears reader, who managed to take spyshots of the Compass's production-ready, India-spec interiors.

What’s interesting to note here are the interiors. Jeep had not revealed this during the first unveiling. What you can see is two-interior colour themes (Dual tone beige & Black), 3-spoke steering wheel, round gear knob, premium audio system with one speaker even on the dashboard, touchscreen infotainment, instrument console with MID, 5-seat layout, leather seats, chrome door opening levers, etc.
What’s a surprising miss on a car in this segment is the electrochromic rear view mirror; you can see that the one in the Compass is the standard low cost unit with a lever to flip and get rid of glare.

Looks like the base version manual trim.

Interior colour look very much like the Punto's black and grey combination. The ACC sensor also is a straight lift from the Punto. No Auto dimming mirror. Looks like it's got some artificial leather seats.

The Compass is going to be launched in July with a shocker of a price. What I've been told, and I'm taking this with a pinch of salt, albeit small, is that the range will start from around 16L (!) and the 4x4 diesel will go upto 21L, both ex-showroom.
The petrol auto will come to around 19L with diesel auto slated for 2018.

This puts the car smack dab in the middle of Creta and Tucson, and I've been told by those who've driven it that it deserves this spot, that it won't be competing with the CR-V, Tucson or the Karoq. The interior fit and finish is a step below the Creta, though it will come with more features.

If all this turns to be true, which, considering my source, it shouldn't be too far off, we're in for a good shake up of the status quo.

Fiat and Jeep are also pursuing new dealerships aggressively, and they really do plan to create something lasting here with the Jeep.

This is nice pricing to say the least and jeep should find a lot of takers for the compass at this price. If they sort out the ASS having dealers in all Tier 1 and 2 cities without exorbitant service costs am pretty sure jeep is here for a long run. Indians are fascinated by SUVs and are willing to pay a premium for them. The XUV will be hit quite hard although this is only a 5 seater along with the Top variants of the Creta. Hexa, Safari and the new Isuzu will surely be hit hard.

I also checked with my guys there and they are now talking about June end launch. Pricing info is still the same though (17-20.5 lacs ex-showroom) with Automatic being launched in Oct.

All I can say is Wow! If they do pull it off, then they wont be able to meet demand for sure. And what worries me more is that they most certainly wont be able in the current dispensation, to handle servicing.
Whatever happens, at these rumoured prices, there will be a big shakeup in the market!

Hyundai Tucson base price starts 19 L ex - showroom Delhi. At 16 L ex-showroom, it is just above 14.64 L which is hyundai Creta ex-showroom. To really shakeup the market, they need to woo buyers off the Creta. Something like 13L ex-showroom is what will shakeup the market. They need to go after the Creta

I really hope that the FCA india takes special care on the ASS front as well.
Good product at great price can still fail if the ASS feedback is not positive in the market.

Spotted a convoy of four Jeep Compass in camouflage near Mysore with the company of the Audi Q5, Merc GLC and a few support vehicles. I was driving and my parents couldn't click pictures quickly since the convoy was coming in the opposite direction. Doesn't have the road presence of either the Q5 or the Merc since those two caught my attention before the vehicles in camouflage
