These things matter in that segment.

Yes, indeed. I was the one with the bicycle helmet.

In fact, part of my bicycle's tire appears in one of the pics.

Haha. I saw you taking a pic from the rear glass side of that Jeep. I was hoping that you would get some interior pics too and with the sun on the other side without glass reflections Did they stop you while taking pics ? These Jeeps are regular at that spot and even in Bavdhan.

I feel it should have been a bit taller given its width.

Jeeps tend to have flattish roofs and a not so high roofline/ tall stance. Think Jeep Patriot.
Actually this is good because the CG is kept a little more manageable.
One of the reasons I like the Yeti.
Well proportioned height vs width.
Similar to Jeep Patriot.

Consider also the Humvee...

The one i clicked had halogen reflectors so i assume it could be the mid variant or so since Fintail too posted images but the alloys design was different in his.

Which car does it come closest to in size?
Brezza?
Creta?
Q3?
Yeti?
Duster?
Your opinion please?

Overall find it to be between Brezza and Creta.

May be camouflaging is making it look smaller than it is but didn't find it tall as the Brezza.

The Compass, in terms of height was almost near Range Rover Evoque. Width wise may be Creta like.

The variant i saw had the dial to toggle between Snow, mud etc.

Saw the same one in Goa. Was a diesel model. Interior quality looked good. Not as tight as may be vw but certainly hyundai league. Didn't seem to me as wide and probably even little smaller than creta but maybe the camouflage was at work here.
Clearly there are some terrain modes available so may be it was a 4x4. Electronic parking brakes are seen along with auto start. Non led headlights point towards a mid variant may be.
Looked like they would be pitching this a little over Creta but any more ambitious would be a stretch imo.

I did manage obtain one single, solitary dashboard picture.

So, yes, was not affected that much by the sunlight, but was certainly affected by a malfunctioning 4 year old smartphone camera, a 2013 Nokia Lumia 620.

The drivers were not very disciplined, admittedly. The convoy of cars was parked, and all of them were having a bit of a feast, sitting in the lead car.

Clearly, these are some of the rare folks on this planet who actually enjoy what they do.

Lastly, when someone amongst them saw me click the dashboard pic, about three or four test drivers came out, all looking very strict, and unkempt also, I daresay.

Anyways, I stopped clicking, and these guys left within the minute. In a hurry, if I may so add.

Lastly, I would like to point out that I intend to write a mail to FIAT-Chrysler India, telling about this incident, and how the test drivers reacted to it. When you are a test driver, you not only test your car well, but you also take all kinds of efforts to protect the car you are testing, and prevent any outsider from clicking pics of the car.

Well, all these guys were doing was: They had parked the convoy alongside a busy thoroughfare, and were having a gala time in the lead car, playing cards, eating, and doing god knows what on their smartphones.

Well, it is a JEEP, and certainly they do tend to have tend to have flattish roofs and a not so high roofline/ tall stance, in general, anyways.

Well, Auf Wiedersehen!

Just saw the Autocar India June edition. Jeep compass is dominating the cover, following an exclusive first drive report.

The magazine has awarded the Compass an impressive 9 stars out of 10. It's an extraordinary review praising many aspects of the car like build quality, ride quality, feel, finish and features on offer . They are calling it a sure winner.

The expected price quoted is 18 to 25 Lakhs.

Autocar India has published their review of Jeep Compass (India) in June 2017 issue. Overall, the review is impressive.

Why do you say this?
It was always considered a great tyre right through the '70's and '80's. Especially the ones that had the nice thick white stripe all along right around the sidewall.
We used to use Firestone tyres on Dad's old Fiat and even on the Ambassador until we switched to a set of Dunlop Radials on that Fiat and later to a set of Dunlop Radial 2001's on the Ambassador.

Features like Sunroof, auto headlamps/wipers and auto dimming IRVM is indeed matters in that segment. Apart from this, the review reads electric seat adjustment is also missing from the variant they have tested.

I think its 8.4 inch screen available on top end models in USA

re: Meeting the Jeep Compass. EDIT: Priced between 14.95 to 20.65 lakhs

About the auto headlamps and wipers, I don't see them as dealbreakers if the car on the whole is good. The IRVM auto dimming is a more important feature since it you can't keep it switching manually all the time.

But I believe Jeep knows this, and riding on it to give the Jeep some cost advantage over say, a Tucson. And if that happens, I don't mind such small deletions.
