Well at 13.xx, it is still min 50k more than creta petrol automatic and 1 lakh more than Scross 1.6 top end.

If a manual base model petrol can be priced at 13.xx lakhs, they can well have an automatic petrol with some more features and 6 airbags at around 15 lakhs.

Maybe it's true.. may be I am delusional.

You are not. They can actually match varient to varient with Creta with a 50-75 k premium, remember Creta is overpriced.

13 lakhs will be a very good starting price in my opinion but are they going to reveal the petrol model prices as well?

Petrol is slated for an October/ November launch. But going by the 13 lakh price point ( fingers crossed ) they might announce the petrol pricing as well. I am going with 18.9-19.9 ex-showroom for the limited diesel launch price.
Considering that the Creta and Tucson are overpriced, if Jeep prices the Compass honestly, it will fly of the shelves.

With their facebook post, it will be a PR disaster if they don't launch in the 13 lakh start price range.

That's a Jeep Cherokee SRT in the show, not Jeep Compass.

Jeep Compass gathers 4,000 bookings in India. Well that's a news for a brand with such limited reach and abysmal after ASS support. Even the prices are yet to be revealed, will be great to see how much bookings converts to actual deliveries once prices are revealed.

I booked a Compass Petrol AT on July 7 and my booking ID was close to 1700. If FCA has garnered 2300 bookings in the last 20 days, it is quite an achievement. Now it is FCA's turn to offer an "amazing" introductory pricing and ensure that a few thousand Jeeps gets onto the roads within the next few months.

That's almost close to the sales numbers of FCA group for the entire last year.

Also, interesting to note that 60% of those bookings are for the top of the line diesel manual variant, in a segment where automatics are considered a necessity. Hope this makes them get the diesel automatic as soon as possible, as the numbers are bound to improve for the AT variant.

And the Trailhawk version as well, with the panoramic sunroof. The demand for the top version is obviously there.

The big negative they need to watch out for? With 60% bookings for the top end variant, the price of the top end version needs to be as good as the entry variants as well. You're shooting yourself in the foot if the entry variants are priced at 14 - 15L wheras the top variants at 25!

The Trailhawk is a mixed bag!!

1. Love -
Approach angles 30 Deg and simulated 4Low (20 : 1 Ratio) for Rock Mode

2. Dont Love -
Only Automatic - Want / Prefer Manual Instead.
Off road tyres only - hence not great for regular on road travel
Front bumper airflow not optimised for regular highway speeds

Top end manual diesel (requirement) - doesnt come with 4Low and approach angle is only around 17 Deg

I got a call from Jeep yesterday mentioning the launch must be early next week and test drive cars will be available from then. He said expected price range is 18 to 22 lakhs ex-showroom.

Meeting the Jeep Compass

Booked petrol AT today, but I have a feeling jeep is going for profits against volumes. Why? Because when i went to jeep showroom the sales executive told me OTR for petrol AT will be 19-20. Today while booking he said it will cost around 21-22L OTR and when diesel AT with 9 speed ZF launches early next year it will be more than 27L OTR.
Test drive cars have arrived at dealership and initially they are inviting only customers who have booked one.
Test drives will begin tomorrow evening and I am invited to test drive on sunday morning. This is for diesel manual.
As per him andheri, mumbai delearship has booked approx 380 cars in total ( includes all variants)
