Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

The lower variants which will sell more - the all-new DZire in it's V_i avatar, in white (VDi) and silver (AGS) shades.

Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

Hope the occupants are safe from the accident. Looks like a high speed one!

However, those accident pictures give me a bit of hope on the crash worthiness of the new DZire. It was up against the two ton heavy and mighty Safari which itself seems to have taken a lot of damage.

The AGS car pictured here seems to be Z_i variant, going by the presence of engine start/stop button. I can also faintly make out ACC controls in the pic.

The new Dzire is indeed very impressive. This would be my first choice now in the compact sedans segment. It ticks all the right boxes.
  • Much improved looks & proportions
  • Increased boot space
  • A fresh new interior
  • Safety features in all variants
  • The best 1.2L petrol out there & national diesel engine
  • Maruti's reliability and wide service network
  • AMT option on mid and highest variants

Maruti has got a winner on their hands. I only hope they do not pull off an Ignis/S Cross when they price the variants

No, its V.

The pic has the AMT gear lever and check the manual controls for the A/C and where did you spot the engine start/stop button?

That pic is removed in an edit, it seems. When I started typing the reply, it was there.

Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

Somehow, the rear AC vents appear to be too small & too reclined. I hope it is not a form over function, just because others in the segment are offering.

Actually, both of you are right.

I was uploading the latest VDI pics, and one of the pics of the ZDI AGS variant I had posted last night (in the previous page) got uploaded by mistake. Noticing the error, I removed that pic in a subsequent edit. It couldn't escape AkMar's eagle eyes, though.

This is the ZDI AGS's interior which AkMar was talking about (Start/Stop button is on the right side of the steering wheel, on the dash):

Apologies for the confusion, guys.

Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

Honestly speaking, I am always uncomfortable about reading crashes which involves Maruti cars, because somewhere at the back of my mind, I know I'll be seeing a mangled heap of metal.

Offlate, Maruti has been saying that some of their cars, and all the newly launched ones are certified for the upcoming crash norms. While they have always talked about how their cars meet the minimum required safety norms, I had a reason to believe them this time, as it was their sales which was at stake. God bless BVNCAP.

The crash between the New Dzire and Storme is one of the worst a car can experience. IIHS talks about how the small overlap test is one of the hardest to pass, since only a small portion of the front crash structure is available to absorb the impact.

If the passengers of the Dzire walked away safely(something which has to be confirmed), then this is a great achievement for a company which was always notorious for manufacturing poorly built cars. Crashing against a 2 ton behemoth, the featherlight Dzire had a huge momentum disadvantage to begin with.

Seriously hope that our roads become a safer place with the upcoming norms.

Regards,
Shashi

Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

Do we have any news related to the safety aspect of the new Dzire? The previous generation Swift/Dzire were notorious on the safety aspect and were structurally poor.

So, how good is this car from a safety perspective compared to the previous generation Dzire?

Re: Meeting the 2017 Maruti Dzire

Side profile of the new Dzire is very similar to Baleno, except boot off course. I find it very similar. It's just me or anybody else as well thinks like me ?

Its a not bad thing at all and looking good. Baleno is anyways a hit car. I am sure Dzire will soon become highest selling car in India. Others must start worrying :P

Doesn't the front look ugly, there should have been chrome instead of black near the S symbol

The rear angle view shows the similarity between this DZire and NHC.
