Honda has definetely read the Indian market well and continues to be number one (except Civic, which lost to Octavia by 1 point). About GM (to quote from the article), "All the leading models of General Motor India ranked the lowest in their respective segments".

Note: I have left blank for those I couldn't get the points.

Yawn, another survey with another set of results

I really cannot fathom which is valid - JDP or this!!!

Don't know about the reliability of the survey, but it gives a general idea about Indian car customers. In most cases, more satisfaction means more numbers for the maker ! Also, other manufacturer need to think why their cars didn't make it to the top.

I worked on this report in 2005 and I can tell you they are pretty much reliable. The data collection process, the analysis model used and final results are all very scientific. In fact, the data collection methods are ISO certified. Not that an ISO is the end of all things, but there is a whole lot of thought and rigor going into activities like respondent selection, information recording, data validation and the works.

The overall satisfaction factors serve only one purpose - to be used a marketing tool by the winners. The full report runs to a few thousand pages and this is where the true utility of the report is. Every vehicle model is compared with its competition on all the independent parameters (over a 100 of them) which result in the overall ratings.

On which is more relaibale, almost all vehicle manufacturers in India buy both the reports. The key people who are behind the TNS model were earlier with JD Power. They beleive the TNS model is better than the JDP one.

JD Power is supposedly the industry standard, and has been around for a long time

I'm wondering how Sumo has entered the list !!! These studies are mere eyewash.

Dude, take a look at the number of Sumo's running on the road and you get the picture.

An important thing to note is that the octavia has beaten the civic in terms of customer satisfaction.

Whatever we say about skoda customer service that 1.9tdi is a golden goose for it in India.

Ain't Fiat Palio customers satisfied? If this survey has any reality then I had been wrong. I was always in impression that people hesitate to buy a Palio but whoever buys it becomes fan of it. How can Indigo owners be more satisfied than Palio, man?
