Primarily because of lack of power and my running is close 30K KmS per year, so was looking for diesel preferably.right now only creta has made it to shortlist.

As per this piece on CarDekho, Ecosport will be cheaper to buy in Mumbai, but will become more expensive for Delhi residents post GST.

Back to the topic at hand... This is sooper news if true. For long we have suffered the tyranny of geography.

Another clarification I needed.

All the articles show various categories of cars getting affected by GST. They don't mention compact SUV as a class. So where does Ecosport slot in? Small Car? Mid Sized Car? Or SUV?

I am "guessing", this will add time pressure for Ford to expedite the facelift EcoSport launch. Given that they had done umpteen road tests since May in indian roads across various cities, probably it could be easy for them to face the competition earlier than planned.

With the dealer dispatches of the Honda WRV overtaking the ecosport, ford should really price the refreshed ecosport wisely. The post GST prices resulted in a small price cut which isnt enough if you take into account a new model that is going to be priced higher than the existing one.And with the Honda WRV gaining plus the tata nexon around the corner with very good interiors, Ford cannot be complacent.

The current ecosports Achilles is its interior space and petrol/diesel auto options besides the front looks and old interiors,both of which have been greatly improved from the new pics i have seen. I doubt they can increase the interior space by much but engine transmission options is very much possible.Ford, dont screw this up!

coming from a current Ford owner, their yearly maintenance cost is way cheaper than a maruti ,hence cost of ownership and resale shouldn't be an issue.

spotted 2018 Ford EcoSport are on its way to Mexico. The spotted car appears to be production ready and houses cosmetic updates all around

The face lifted Ford EcoSport has been spotted on the way to the international markets hence leading into speculations that the compact SUV will essentially spawn abroad and eventually arrive to the Indian markets. The international market could expect to see the new Ford EcoSport at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. It is likely that the American manufacturer could christen the new compact SUV as the 2018 model.

The new Ford EcoSport is speculated to make an appearance in the 2018 Delhi Auto Expo and could go on sale in the second quarter of 2018

If it's sometime in 2018 then it's quite late! Ford is already losing out to the Brezza big time and the other cars in its line up like the Figo aspire and Figo haven't really performed in line with expectations. The ecosport seems to be their only hope and hence they should get it sooner than Auto expo 2018.

2018 is too damn late. I, for one, would definitely switch to either Nexon or WRV by that time.

Also, the international debut for the car has already happened. It was unveiled in US last year, and has already been launched in Brazil. I posted a video review link here couple of weeks back.

Strangely, Financial Express also reporting the same but I don't believe that link bait journalism much.

Sorry unable to edit and add this link to my last message, but it seems like even IBTimes is mentioning Ecosport launch window as early next year, although unsure of their sources. Same publication/author had talked about refreshed model coming in early 2017 too.

EcoSport spotted again, now in Ooty!

The new alloys appear to be 17-inch units. Upon closer inspection, the one wearing the new alloys not carrying a tailgate mounted spare wheel indicating this particular design or spec could be for export. Being a right-hand drive model, the version could be heading to South East Asia. Other visible details include a new shade of blue, black roof rails and headlamps with projector units and black inserts.

The second test mule wears the same 16-inch alloys as the model on sale in India. It does without the black inserts for the headlamps. The third camouflaged unit accompanying the two 2017 Ford EcoSport units was that of the model currently on sale. It carries masking on the front and rear of the car and silver casing for the ORVMs. Ford could be using the camo for benchmarking consistency
