BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

Thank you to BHPianas Akshay1234 & Santoshbhat for sharing this information with other enthusiasts!

BMW appears to have silently launched the 330i petrol in India. The company's official website now has an updated price list, which has been put into effect from May 1, 2017. This new list indicates the presence of two variants in the 330i guise - Sport Line and M Sport. The 330i Sport Line is priced at Rs. 42.4 lakh, while the 330i M Sport has been pegged at Rs. 44.9 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi).

Powering the BMW 330i is a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder TwinPower petrol engine that churns out 248 BHP @ 5,200 rpm and 350 Nm of torque @ 1,450-4,800 rpm. Transmission duties are handled by an 8-speed Steptronic Sport automatic transmission. It comes with four driving modes: Comfort, ECOPRO, Sport and Sport+. BMW claims that this engine can deliver a fuel economy figure of 16.05 km/l.

Features on offer with the 330i variants are similar to that of the corresponding trims in the 320d guise. However, the 330i Sport Line comes with a rear parking camera, something that the 320d Sport Line doesn't get.

The 330i Sport Line can be opted in three colour options - Alpine White, Black Sapphire and Mediterranean Blue. Meanwhile, the 330i M Sport gets the first two colours, but misses on the Mediterranean Blue shade.

Following is the updated price list of the BMW 3-Series line-up (ex-showroom, New Delhi):
• 320d Prestige - Rs. 37.50 lakh
• 330i Sport Line - Rs. 42.40 lakh
• 320d Luxury Line - Rs. 42.70 lakh
• 320d Sport Line - Rs. 42.70 lakh
• 330i M Sport - Rs. 44.90 lakh
• 320d M Sport - Rs. 45.90 lakh

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

Good move by BMW, they have priced it nearly at the price of the flop 320i that they had launched as a CBU. I'm glad they learned their lesson that they can't offer us an inferior powered engine than the 320d and price it at par. No one in their right mind would pick the 320i over the 320d if priced and discounted at par. The 330i however would be my pick over the 320d for sure. The 320d isn't a well refined engine and the 330i will offer way better refinement and more power.

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

Funnily enough, the 330i is cheaper on the 320i (AT least on paper), that shows you how much thought BMW is really putting into calculating the prices of their cars. (Read: Not much). Infact, BMW surely made losses selling the CBU 320i at the same price as the 320d and sometimes even lesser with the discounts.

Is there any confirmation whether this is a cbu or ckd?

The choice of barely 3 (and just 2, a white and a black on the M sport) makes me think its a CBU

Time for Karan to sell his 328i and give us another great thread on a petrol BMW ownership. I don't think there is any media material on the 328i that is as detailed as the his ownership review.

The 330i is a great option to a lot of folks who do very little mileage and need a prestige brand they can enjoy once in a while. This is an engine that the rest of the world couldn't get enough of, economy and power in a small package.

But the 330i is basically the same engine in pretty much the same tune of power. And with the remap and chip in his car, i don't think a 330i is close to it in terms of power.

In BMW India website, also for "diesel" models the spec page is updated. Now, the 320d luxury line includes both front parking sensors and rear camera, but not in 320d sport line or 320d M-sport.
Also, the 330i sport line misses out the leather seats along with the other specs mentioned by "dZired".

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

BMW quotes a 5.8 sec 0-100 time for the 330i. Same as the 530d. And just 1.7 secs off from the M3/M4.

Just to put things in perspective. This is a seriously quick sports sedan. Great time for Enthusiasts who know what they want. People should lap it up while it's available.

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

Good on you, BMW for giving us the 330i.

For a brand that's more associated with making driver-focused cars than the other two luxe-brands, it was hard to believe the only cars on offer were dreary diesels or a neutered petrol.. And if you wanted something truly fun, you would have to sell your house and buy the M3/M4.

Whilst it may make more sense having a turbo-4 in the line-up, the 340i's creamy straight-six would have given the C43 a run for its money! C'mon, BMW! Give us a straight-six that runs on petrol and does not have the M4/M4 badge on it.

Pardon my ignorance but in what way is this car different from the 328i? The previous generation 330i was a 6 cylinder.

The F30 LCI doesn't have a 328i, the 330i replaces it and adds a few more hp

I forgot about the Steinbauer tuning box, the car makes more than the new improved version. I guess this time it'll be someone else.

Well the 328i has been renamed 330i and bumped up in power slightly. Similarly, the 335i which was the 6 cylinder variant of this generation has been renamed 340i.

Is there any word on whether this is a CBU or CKD? The limited colours would probably mean its a CKD since they only ship kits of the popular colours.

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

@ khoj:

Well you can check up on any of the international BMW websites like BMW UK, and you will see that with the LCI facelifts, the 328i which was the highest tuned 4-cylinder has been replaced with the 330i, and the 335i which was the 6-cylinder has been replaced by the 340i. Neither the 328i nor the 335i are on sale anymore; internationally.

Re: BMW silently launches the 330i, priced from Rs. 42.4 lakh

The 330i uses the B48 engine, which is an all new engine as compared to the N20 engine in the previous 328i. Seems like BMW is rounding off their numbers. The 335i too has now been called the 340i with a new engine in that too.

The B48 engine in the 330i is already present in the 330i GT which was launched a short while ago, and it is the same engine in the Mini Cooper S so we do know it can make some noise.
