Haven't driven the NX yet, but it doesn't look like a car I'd buy. And even if you are put off by Jaguar's ownership headaches, Mercedes & BMW are there with competent SUVs.

I'm sure Lexus will have fabulous reliability & after-sales service, but there is no way I'm parking such a weirdo in my driveway.

Obviously nobody is buying the Candy Orange NX anytime soon as a daily drive, but even in the usual staid colors like White or Black the NX stands out in a good way. And it is being offered with a 200 Bhp Petrol engine with hybrid that has an ARAI mileage of 18.9 kmpl I think that is a big plus point that its using a cleaner fuel with better efficiency and not to to forget that they are closer in price to the Locally manufactured cars.

I think the NX's design and powertrain has a lot going for it. The F pace at 60 lacs ex showroom is nothing like the one in your picture and would be closer to 70 even when Jag starts offering the R sport again. I would Pick the F pace if it gets a Turbo petrol or the V6 diesel, but in the current state of tune, dont think either of these cars is one for the enthusiast.

Oh and yeah as you mentioned, all this without even bringing up the reliability factor.

The NX300h gets host of interior upholstery options in both the variants. The F-Sport has primarily black leather interiors with a choice of yellow, red or while accents while the Luxury variant gets dual tone leather interiors with an option for maroon, tan, white or beige seats and an option of black or white dashboard. It gets a 10.3-inch split-screen multimedia display and an analogue clock. The infotainment system has integrated navigation and can be operated via a touchpad. The SUV comes with a three-spoke, multi-functional steering wheel and a twin-pod instrument cluster. It has power-folding and power-reclining rear seats and kick-sensor activated powered tailgate in addition to dual-zone climate control and 8-way adjustable memory seats.

Under the bonnet is a 2,494cc, 4-cylinder petrol engine which makes 194 BHP @ 5,700 rpm and peak torque of 210 Nm @ 4,200-4,400 rpm. There are 5 driving modes to choose from - Eco, Normal, Sport, Sport+ and Custom. The NX300h can drive in full-electric mode at low speeds.

Some of the notable features offered on the NX300h include adaptive suspension, idling start/stop, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, 8 airbags, vehicle stability control (VSC), ABS, hill start assist, traction control and rear view camera with park assist.

Competitive pricing finally! If I were in the market for a crossover, I would shortlist this and the new XC60 for sure. Can't emphasize enough the peace of mind that comes with Lexus ownership.

Re: Lexus NX300h launched at Rs. 53.18 lakh

Finally a sensibly priced car from Lexus although in USA it costs about USD 38,000 equivalent to INR 24 Lakhs (blame the import duties).

OT. Is it just me or does the side profile resemble that of the Lamborghini Urus?

Isn't this pricing actually very very decent from Lexus. Considering the NX is a full CBU and undercuts the F-Pace as well.

Good pricing indeed! And except for the overdone face everything else look pretty good. I wish Toyota/Lexus consider going in the Hyundai/KIA way to hire a European designer. The Koreans look so neat when they moved off the fluidic design language.

Re: Lexus NX300h crossover might come to India. EDIT: Launched at 53.18 lakh

I checked out the car yesterday. The 'wow' factor of the interiors is not the same as in the new Volvo XC60. The quality of materials are all up there - just referring to the bringing together to please the senses. Just one man's opinion. In the base version the rear seats have a cooling facility and an electric seat adjust.

Re: Lexus NX300h crossover might come to India. EDIT: Launched at 53.18 lakh

Got a chance to see the vehicle last week. It does look funky and weird at the same time. It did grab a lot of attention too and add that orange shade - you are asking for attention.

It looks compact but that front grille gives that butch look, thanks to that gaping mouth. The quality inside was pretty good but not a fan of that center console. The rear space was decent but you have better cabin space in this price range. Couldn't check the car much but saw that it's got hands free boot opening and closing option.

It's around 70L on road (Bangalore). My BIL has booked for a TD as his friend is looking to upgrade from a Q5. Have tested F Pace, Macan, XC 90. Lexus will definitely shock him (he's lazy when it comes to car purchase) but let's see how it drives.

Re: Lexus NX300h crossover might come to India. EDIT: Launched at 53.18 lakh

Test drove the Sports Edition today. Very smooth driving like the ES300h but with more torque and power to weight ratio. There is a feature to create the sound of a roaring engine inside the cabin while in reality on the outside the cars runs very quietly. Interiors more modern than my ES300h. Materials used are similar in quality and stitching. The zippy Lexus baby.

Re: Lexus NX300h crossover might come to India. EDIT: Launched at 53.18 lakh

This is the most sensible pricing by Lexus so far. With ever increasing number of the big three Germans on road, the F-Pace and this model will be a refreshing change. Although NX will win hands down in terms of Long term reliability and peace of mind, The F-Pace is one heck of a car which looks like a Beast.

I am hoping to see at least one actress would turn up in that flashy orange NX300 . Lexus should start with the Bollywood stars to promote their vehicles in India.

Considering the dealership based after-sales service issues that customers have been putting up on the forum for Merc & BMWs recently, if Lexus get their strategy and dealer setup done correctly, I'd expect this model in its black/white/grey avataars to do decently well.

Some months ago I spoke at length with the owner of one of the Lexus dealers and also one of the senior Lexus officers from Japan. They emphatically stated that Lexus will establish it self in India gradually. The dealers are being measured on service and customer satisfaction and not on number of units sold. They said the aim is to first establish themselves far ahead on the quality and A.S.S. curve and position themselves away from the German III in this respect. Later the thrust for size of sales will be looked at. I do not have the expertise of offering my views on the viability or otherwise of this strategy but it could reflect that the company has time and deep pockets on its side.

If competition spurs the German III to improve their A.S.S. then good all around for us customers.

Mod Note: Our Lexus NX 300h Review has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!
