Seen one in red at the Mumbai showroom ( downtown), it's their test drive vehicle, seems well maintained and parked right opposite the showroom, if any Mumbai members want to try their luck with a good offer on the table to the showroom. About two months ago I had also posted about this forum about the availability of a couple of cars ( one white ) and had seen this red one at that time as well.

A new colour after a long time and it suits the sporty persona. The good part, this yellow GTI would have lesser chances of getting mistaken for a Polo GT twin.

Looks like the yellowish golden color of the VW Arteon. If that's the case they might have just got the paint from another factory upon request.
VW should have offered some of these flashy colors for the GTI in the first place... like the AMG crazy color series.

Perhaps, for some countries, making the thing showy might work, but the whole GTI ethos, since its inception, has been the plain-looking family car that no-one looks at twice until the driver puts their foot down

I registered my interest and a prompt call came from a dealer in N.Blr that VW doesn't have any stock and they can help me if I would be keen on any other model? I told them my interest was only for the GTI and got a reply that next lot expected in Aug.

Not sure if this is true?

Volkswagen is evaluating in bringing the NEW Polo GTI to India.

Likely to import the MK6 Gen Polo and later moving to local production.

it believes that, if priced right, there exists a good enough market for it. Additionally, the company is very keen on launching the new car to maintain the nameplate continuity. It could thus end up importing the new GTI straight away; however, it would become an issue in keeping the price competitive against its rivals, like the Mini

Read the above news today on another auto site that VW has discontinued the current Polo GTI and is mulling to bring the new model. I don't think any new lots will be ordered by the dealers if this is true.

The real deal is the MQB platform. If they are able to localize the platform here, it could prove a cost-effective option.

The internet is flooded with such news about new 6th Gen GTI coming to India in near future. One thing is sure, it will be much more practical since it comes only in 5 door version. It will also be bigger and with fresh interiors. the question is 2.0 TSI or 1.8 TSI? If VW is able to price it below 20 lacs, it can be a hit.

I just hope that's true. Either Polo GTI or Golf GTI. I will be in the market for a new car within the next 4-5 months. At least some news by them or confirmation would be nice. If I don't get either, then most likely I will go with Octavia vRS.

However, if they do confirm a Polo or Golf GTI then I would definitely go with those instead of the Octavia vRS.
