If you see the brochure, you'll notice that it is actually 2 year standard warranty + 3 year EW. So basically, they are throwing in the EW as a freebie. I'm not sure of what the finer points are in terms of the difference between a standard and extended warranty (I'd have thought there aren't any), but that's the way its structured.

Your question is still valid though, why doesn't the Freestyle (which isn't selling like the EcoSport) getting the free EW package.

Yep - a Torque Converter (TC) uses hydraulic fluid to transfer power (imagine swirling water in a bucket, the moving water carries force which can take a mug in circles). As a result, it is among the smoothest transmission, but is lossy due to the hydraulic coupling.

CVT uses a belt and pulley system (at some time, try and see the innards of an Activa type of scooter to see how it works), while AMT basically automates the regular clutch and gear shifter of a manual transmission (i.e. hydraulics automatically push in the clutch and change gears). The other common automatic transmission is the dual clutch (DSG/DCT) that was offered previously on the EcoSport/Aspire/Figo, and is offered on the VW/Skoda cars.

Yes, Ford had mentioned that the facelift will be made out of boron steel. Apart from its performance in crash tests, it will be nice to hear about whether that improves the feel/acoustics of the Aspire, once TBHP gets their hands on a test-drive piece.

That's interesting. However, I'd wager that's a mistake on the part of the dealer in putting together the price list. It would be a colossal error on Ford India's part if they announce this as free, put the same in the brochure, and then charge the customer.

This next point is not hard evidence (it could be that the site is being updated), but you'll notice that the Aspire has disappeared from the Ford EW page, and the prices for the EW for the 2015 (new) Figo are in line with what you've mentioned.

Extra boot space (Aspire) Vs ESC+ TCS (Freestyle) is the point of contention.

You can't have the ARP in Aspire (discounting the 1.5 auto). But if it's an occasional necessity, you can get add some space in Freestyle with the Roof Cross Bars.

Your post itself has the answer actually! The automatic is paired only with the 1.5L Dragon and hence it makes sense for Ford to offer that combination as is on the Aspire without spending too much time and money configuring it to the 1.2L Dragon engine.

On another note, I have driven the new Ecosport automatic with this new 1.5L Dragon and it is a nice little engine that has good punch. The lighter Aspire with this engine will be a rocket!

Which TC autobox variant from the Ecosport does the new Aspire get? The Titanium+ one with S-mode or the Trend+ one with L-mode?

Tata has started to take a dig at Ford already:

They probably should have included Dzire too, just saying (Don't just Aspire or Desire )

Thoroughly happy with the launch. Ford is looking at the Indian market very seriously now. The new Aspire does look mature and premium at least in the top end T+ variant.

Well spotted, that was something that caught my eye as well - the 1.5 Dragon is the cheapest to maintain, despite it being larger, and tied up to an autobox.

The website also lists the same prices, so it is unlikely to be an error. More interestingly, the 1.5 Dragon's maintenance costs in the Aspire are cheaper than the petrol EcoSport by 700 rupees annually, but the diesel is cheaper by only 200-300 rupees. It's not the differences per se, but the fact that Ford claims the maintenance of the automatic Aspire is going to be the cheapest of their range.

If anything, this underscores the point I made earlier that the autobox should have been offered on the Trend and Titanium+ variants, and not just one variant.

This made me chuckle - they've taken that smoke effect that Ford have been using for a few years, and have written 'Aspire' in a font that is reminiscent of the Ford logo (with the pronounced flair of the F being used in the A). Clever

I like it when companies take their competitiveness to the advertising as well (as long as it's friendly and clean), like this. More importantly, Tata's recent products have been impressive, and they're right to serve notice to Ford that 'we're coming for you'.

Re: The Ford Figo & Aspire Facelifts. EDIT: Aspire launched at Rs 5.55 lakhs

As a current satisfied ecosport owner, I am planning to replace it with a smallest auto petrol hatchback in some time (Innova is there for long distance use).

I was looking at figo/freestyle as top priority (unless a 6-7 airbag liva AT is launched). Reasons:
1. Ford is better built & to drive (unlike hyundai and better than baleno/jazz)
2. Size: Jazz baleno are large, smaller ones have AMT.
3. Bigger engine and simple AT technology (low usage so FE not a concern, hassle free ownership required)
4. 6 airbags (most important factor)

Was closely following this launch. Am somewhat disappointed with lack of 6 airbags. Hoping 1.5 AT comes soon with 6 airbags which will make a perfect safe fun small footprint car which can be used by all in the family.

Congestion is ever growing, Chauffeurs are getting rare. There is a customer segment( multiple cars, self drive for city duties especially for females, elderly) who are willing to pay a premium for small, safe, easy to drive cars- gap till V40/A class is large.

Re: The Ford Figo & Aspire Facelifts. EDIT: Aspire launched at Rs 5.55 lakhs

A lost opportunity for Ford to release an auto box mated to their wonderful diesel engine. With their unequalled driver focused budget cars, an auto box would have done wonders for their sales figures. Instead of tweaking their models every month, Ford should singularly focus on this addition to their diesel engines. (Coming from a former proud owner of Ikon and Figo, who dumped the brand for 1+yr waiting period of Ecosport ).

Model based ARAI ratings or a typo? Ambiente has rating of 20.4 where as for Titanium+ it is 19.4. Also there was a talk about new gen Aspire getting heavier Boron steel. Looking by the weight(Every variant is approx 70KG heavier), it does seem correct. Hope the Aspire is now "BUILT TOUGH".

Actually, the same is stated in the brochure as well. Maybe it is due to the added weight of the higher trims. Though I don't see the same with the diesel.
