Photos on twitter say RS. The official trending topic is also #OctaviaRS.

Because its Octavia RS. The v is not english letter "V" but is a Diacritic – the caron, háček ( ˇ ). Its put there to let Skoda use the RS (vRS) moniker because RS is owned by Ford.

So when its written Octavia vRS it should be read as Octavia RS. v doesn't stand for Victory Rally Sport, Victor Rally Sport or Very Rapid Skoda

The heart would want the 6 speed manual, but the head wants the 6 speed automatic. Perfect size for the city, and what a beast when the roads will open up!

If everything works out, hopefully will have my hands on one next year! Hopefully by then Pete's and other tuners would have figured out proper upgrade packages as well

Me too but not new, maybe after 5 years an used vRS.
They should offer the 4x4 drive train as an option for the TSI also. I think its similar to what is used in the Golf 4x4.

Skoda Octavia RS

The car will be sold in both petrol and diesel engine options for the first time in India.

The petrol engine will be a 2.0-litre TSI unit good for 230hp. while the diesel Octavia RS FWD will come with a 184hp, 2.0-litre engine. Both engines can be mated to either a six-speed manual or a six-speed DSG automatic gearbox.
Also, an AWD Octavia RS diesel with the same motor mated to a six-speed DSG gearbox. The petrol variant won't get the option of AWD.

As far as equipment goes, the Skoda Octavia RS for India will get more aggressive body kit, blacked-out trim bits and larger alloy wheels to make it look different from the regular Octavia. An updated suspension setup will also be part of the package. Additional equipment includes LED headlamps, tail-lamps, fog lamps and daytime running lights steel exhaust tips and a tailgate spoiler. Infotainment duties will be carried out by a 9.2-inch touchscreen system replete with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. Safety features will include nine airbags, ESP and a park-assist system.

Mechanically will remain the same as the current RAPID.

Though based on the Indian Rapid, the sedan will borrow bits from the international Monte Carlo. This means it will get a red exterior shade, an all-black interior, grille and wing mirrors, along with 16-inch alloy wheels and a tailgate spoiler, also in black.

On the inside, the India-spec Rapid Monte Carlo will get unique aluminium scuff plates, faux-carbon fibre trim on the dashboard, a flat-bottom multifunction steering wheel, mobile holder, unique floor mats and upholstery with red stitching on the gear knob and aluminium sport pedals.

Our Laura TSI just completed 5 years and I can't of anything else but the Octavia RS as a change. Another fast Petrol before we have the infrastructure to support all Electric cars, for me to switch to driving an Electric car and I also grow old.
