Mod Note: Our vRS Report has been taken live at this link. Please continue the discussion over on the new thread. Thanks!

Thanks to Dr. Shree Harsha and Mohan Kumar for sharing these images with other enthusiasts via this Team-BHP page!

The new Skoda Octavia vRS has been spotted in India. The car was completely undisguised and spotted in Mumbai and Pune.

The images reveal that the rear end of the car sports the vRS badge and a thin reflector running along the rear bumper. Also, unique to this sporty variant of the Octavia are the twin-exhaust tips and the rear spoiler on the boot lid. The spotted car is said to have had a gloss black grille and new alloy wheels finished in gunmetal grey. That said, there was no badge indicating the engine that was powering the car.

Skoda is having a press briefing on August 10, 2017 in which, more details of the Octavia vRS might be revealed.

Nice catch.
Would wait to see the car in Blue color. Did you get a chance to look into the tyres. were they 17"?

Lovely! And hopefully the interior is all black. :) Not really worried about that as the erstwhile vRS did get black interiors and so did the Octavia Zeal edition.

Will we get the 1.8 TSI with MT or will it be a 2.0 TSI as in the UK?

We are getting the petrol TSI 2.0 RS 230 with a slightly de-tuned engine producing 226 bhp.

Dr. Shree Harsha says that he saw all-black interiors.

clap:clap: The best enthusiast car in the segment just got better! It should do the 0 - 100 dash in 6.xx seconds (high 6).

And to think, just about 15 years back, these figures were the domain of thoroughbred Performance cars.

GTO, in addition to doing a quick-and-dirty test drive report AND a detailed official review, TBHP gurus will ALSO have to recommend whether recent Octy 1.8TSI buyers should trade-in their almost-new cars and buy a VRS.:D

Still cannot believe that the rumoured price is only 4/5 lakhs more than a Style+!

Is the 'launch' a media-only briefing or a webcast or some hybrid format?

Loving the full size red reflector strip in the rear and black lining on the windows.
Shall look amazing in Silver/Blue/Black colours!

Media-only briefing, which Blackwasp is attending. Event should start anytime now. It's a technical briefing on the Kodiaq & Octavia vRS by Ashutosh Dixit (Director - sales, service & marketing) and Philip Paul (Head of product marketing - SUV).

From the invite at least, it doesn't appear that the launch is today.

Skoda Octavi vRS gets LED auto headlights with cornering, LED DRL's spoiler, LED rear lights and diffuser. Launching this Diwali season.

Sport seats, three spoke steering , 10 ambient lighting options , RS instrumentation and space too, 9 airbags, ESP and parking assist. E-diff aside, there will be an e-LSD on the Octavia RS' front axle too. 9.2" touchscreen with Android auto and Apple car play , mirror connect.

The Octavia vRS can accelerate to 100kph in 6.7 seconds with a top-speed limited to 250kph. Electric diff lock part of package too.

The mechanical variants mentioned in the slide are for India? Can't believe they are launching 4x4 Octavia in India. Also diesel vRS. I though India would get only 2.0 TSI.

If it is really for India, the 6 speed manual 2.0 TSI with 226 BHP would be a rich enthusiast's wet dream. Even the 2.0 TDI manual - to an extent for those looking for a daily driver. This thing makes almost the same power as a 320d!

The mentions '6-M' in the slide have been the best news since a long time.

Now this will be the loudest Diwali cracker!! Would it be the most affordable 4x4 sedan? Also there is TSI with MT!!! Now all that one needs to pray for is sane pricing.

Why is Skoda calling it the Octavia RS and not the vRS?
What gives?

Photos on twitter say RS. The official trending topic is also #OctaviaRS.

AFAIK, it is called RS everywhere except UK and previously in India. I believe they will use just RS this time around. The spied model has vRS badge though

Great news! clap: Especially if the 6-M and 4x4 on the TDI variant is true!

I see no mention of the electronically adjustable suspension, which is a bit of a downer. Perhaps it's been omitted to keep the price in check - which is fair.

The regular Octavia's most notable sore-point is its steering-feedback, or lack thereof. Hopefully, the steering has been calibrated correctly in the vRS.

NOTE: If it's going to be just 5 lakhs over and above the regular Octavia, I believe it would be the performance car bargain of the decade! (It has everything the Polo GTI offers, and much more, at around the same price point!)

Time to start saving up! :)
