Hi Anurag,

Did you get any update on the latest prices from your SA?? If not keep an eye on this link http://www.hyundai.com/in/en/Shoppin...tor/index.html. Right now they have removed the estimation for all > 4m models, So I assume this page will be updated soon with the latest prices.

No update from my SA or dealership. New price list is yet to reach dealerships. I have got call from many other dealers.

Cancellations have begun for to the price hike. We too are waiting for the updated price list to take the decision whether to buy it cancel the Creta.

Call it coincidence, I was checking the same on the Hyundai website and you quoted me.

I guess in that case many vehicles would be spared of the 170mm definition ?
I don't think that is the case. The Jeep Compass review indicates a laden ground clearance of 155mm. But the dealer (WSL Automobiles, Chandigarh) just confirmed that this is falling in 7% cess bracket. Must be some voodoo criteria redefinition that the honorable FM seems to come up with, every time he takes a decision.

The definition of SUV says, >4m length, >170mm GC and >1500cc engine.
The 1.4 petrol Compass should fail this test as the engine is 1400cc.

The definition of large car says, >4m length, >1500cc engine.
The 1.4 petrol Compass again fails this test as the engine is 1400cc.

The definition of mid sigment car says, >4m length, <1500cc engine.
The 1.4 petrol Compass passes this test.

So the cess hike should be 2%.

Did I get it right? Or not?

Knowing Govt, it is OR condition and not AND.

I would believe if GC>170mm - it is a SUV irrespective of length etc.
If engine >1500cc you are a mid size car
If engine >2000 cc it is a large car
small car definition remains same

So if you fall in more than one bucket, you will pay tax for where it is higher. So unless Jeep makes the GC lower by making the bumper lip thicker or dangle something meant to be broken it is a SUV.

Toyota had just increased the price of its vehicles on 1st of September. The innova is already dearer by 75,000 (On-Road) in comparison to pre-September price. If they increase the ex-showroom price by another 78K , it will make it dearer by a lakh on road. The top end Innova touring sport AT will be a good 28.5 L (or there about) on road, in Bangalore ! However, with the touring sport getting a mild hybrid, I wonder if it stays unaffected by the hike.

Does not look, they have not mentioned anywhere on their website and this article sums up.

Furthermore, the Crysta and the automatic trims of the Fortuner will see the addition of engine start-stop function, which enhances fuel economy and is a common feature in Mahindra's micro-hybrid technology. However, Toyota does not intend to dub both the models as "micro hybrids" as it believes doing so would dilute the meaning of true hybrids such as the Prius and Camry.

Actually they seem to have increased the price for the whole octavia range. Just wondering if it's applicable with immediate effect?

Surprisingly, carwale doesn't seem to show increased prices for other segment cars.

Octavia and vRS have increased. Superb MY 2018 prices are same as before cess increase if their website data is correct. MY2018 cards already had a ~30k higher price than MY2017 with a couple of features added as I posted in the Superb thread.
Seems Skoda absorbs the 5% cess increase for the Superb ?

The dealer here just confirmed that the 1.4 Creta has attracted only 2% hike whereas the 1.6 Cretas have increased by 5%

So it is an "AND" by the govt. and not an "OR" thankfully.
