Well, one more pic that I found on the net today..The looks do not seem to be too appealing..And the very fact that Maruti has chosen to launch a car that has breathed its last in Japan is a disgrace to us, Indians..Why is that we guys are looked down upon by everyone when it comes to quality ? As most of you would agree with me, we do not even have ABS and airbags as an option, leave alone it being a standard equipment. I am on a long term assignment in the US and I bought a 1999 Honda Civic recently..Even that has Driver and passenger airbags as standard equipment..I suppose its high time Indian car buyers put their foot down and demand these features. Sorry for going a bit off-track..Whether the Indian consumer is going to like the new Zen or the MR Wagon (or the goods wagon, whatever you call it) Maruti must definitely see its profit figures going up if this car is a success in India !!

Saw those pictures and read the initial review by BSM.

Looks like the same boring package of the Wagon R.

Why should we be getting all these outdated packages?

Maybe "value for money".. is the last word Maruti relies upon.

Before you all jump into conclusions about the interiors, Have a look at it in person!

As what I've seen in flesh, it looks very appealing.

The old zen was sleek, and a treat for the power hungry. What does this offer?
Same engine as wagon R and only a slightly better power to weight ratio means a 16 sec sprint to 100.
Like the wagon R its also a tall boyish design. Its like a cheaper wagon R. If they had discontinued the wagon R and introduced this as a replacement, understood, but whats the logic behind selling a wagon R and a wagon Rish car side by side?
The least maruti can do is not insult the zen brandname. Zen was a masterpiece, and in that price range till date there have been no takers for that crown(Alto 1.1 could have been, if maruti had not killed it).

It looks like an ugly child after mating matiz and indica and wagonr

Takin a look the video on IBN Live, the person there says as long as the customer stays with purchasing a Maruti product, they have no issues.
Clearly shows to say that all they care about is the numbers, and not the brand (read -> Zen) as such.

I liked the old Zen, found it kinda cute to look at, and now a car with no semblance at all to the original whatever way u look at it.

Dwindling sales figures of the zen.Facelifts was not creating any enthusiasm amongst the customers.

A car on the grounds of the maruti alto/old zen cannot be completely ruled out amongst the scheduled launches of around 1-2 new cars per year by maruti.

The Estilo is positioned below Wagon R which does not sport these either. So why surprised ?

The Santro sold ~13k cars in october... That could be what maruti is after...

WagonR sold 11.5 cars same time... So... There is santro and indica market to be taken...

The interiors are the best part of this car.Good enough to buy this car for interiors alone.Well almost.. I was impressed when I saw them in flesh. No airbags though (I mean, I couldnt see it through the window..).
