Rightly said.. This would have been a muuuuch better way of celebrating...
IMO this is the worst ever "special edition" brought in by Maruti... Their last job on special editions with the Primea was really a good one...
The only saving grace is the interiors, but still they should have given a tacho..

Well I don't think Maruti or any other Indian manufacture will take pain of housing a separate engine for a celebration launch. If you want them to relaunch the 1.1L one as regular version, that won't be possible. Wagon R, new Zen and Alto 1.1 will create a perfect mess in consumers mind and it will harm Maruti at the end of the day. And for consumers it would be like opting for a 1.1 liter with different clothes!

Alto with 1.1L engine

If I remember correctly, Maruti did sell Alto with wagonR's 1.1L engine for a while in the past. I dont remember which year it was.

It was the VXI version of Alto.
