That's the bit where the 'jaan pehchaan' bit comes into picture. It's easier in a small city, but im not sure how it will work in a place like Delhi.

There are two things you will have to do, find out some person who can get the list of numbers available, and find the dates of bidding. All you need to do is ask that person to get some number as soon as the bidding is complete.

Another aspect is that there arent too many people running after VIP number in smaller towns, so a lot of numbers are left vacant post bidding. It's unlikely that the same would happen in Delhi (Im assuming you are trying to get a number from Delhi). Hope that helps.

Makes perfect sense. In a place like Delhi almost everybody is after the VIP numbers so yes the likelihood of getting it done the way you did it is pretty low. Thanks for all the help though.

Got 4422 for my new Scorpio by pulling a few strings at the RTO. My friend got 2244 for his Honda Jazz.

Good try dude. I have seen some of these numbers with stylish fonts. It is very difficult to figure out the actual number. I remember there was a big crowd in every RTO (atleast in Tamil Nadu) for the numbers '6055' & '8055' after the release of movie 'Shivaji - the BOSS'

BTW no offense on your post, but why to add fuel to the fire? Using these numbers with stylish fonts are against law and should we encourage them in T-BHP?

Re: VIP Car numbers

I once saw a number plate saying 'vitthal' in marathi! on close inspection, it was 1986, with 6 written in marathi and 9 as 'va'. While it was amusing, it is definitely against the law.

Also not to forget, ek tera saath! (1-13-7)

Two small cross lines with a normal font and the 1 with a bold font and it will look like a K, but only when someone looks at it from a close distance. If I were you I'll go with IDOL cuz its easy to make

No doubt its against the law, but there are so many people who do it. I'm not saying we should do it as well. That list is just a thought, for people who are interested. Although I think one can still manage to make it fancy and stay within the law.

Overtaking from the wrong side, braking a traffic signal and many more crucial laws are broken very easily every day. I think the number plate is not as crucial as those laws.

By the way thanks for telling me the BOSS thing, I totally forgot about the Ranjnikant Shivaji BOSS thing. Its off my list now

No offence, but what you are doing here, my friend, is illegal and an act of idiocy of the highest kind. You are NOT ALLOWED to make your license plates 'fancy,' let alone change it.

And how can you think 'the number plate is not as crucial as other laws.!?' The plates are the most important identifiers of a vehicle. Will you still say the same if some car with a 'fancy' number which was written to 'look like' 'fool' hit you and ran? What will you tell the cops? "A 'fool' hit me, but I swear the plates were damn cool."

I simply love that last line.

On a serious note I do agree 100% with your post.

I got 2919 number for my Honda City without paying a single rupee. Many of my friends have asked if this is a fancy number and how much you paid for it.

Re: VIP Car numbers

i believe we are all pushing some normal/ fancy numbers in a topic meant for VIP numbers.
In my understanding VIP numbers are 1-100 with 1 being the most 'vip' and 2 a little less and so on barring few exceptions. Lets understand the difference of fancy and vip.
