Any more such thoughts from all of you ???

I find paying that much silly.
I've always requested for a number that doesnt total 8, had to bribe with 100 bucks for the Road king.
For the 118NE & KINE payed 200 bucks for choosing a number of my choice.
For the Activa/Ikon payed 500/1000 bucks for a chosen number.
I wouldn't pay any more than 2000 bucks. i'd rather spend it on the car, mebbe a tank full or two.

Hmmm, I agree with you about not paying for the numbers. Are you sure you are not going to pay more that 2000 bucks for a number, I bet you would have said the same thing, that you wouldnt have paid more than 500 bucks for a number after buying the NE118. My deduction was based on the trend noticed in your post.

I wouldn't be surprised if the next time you wanted to limit yourself to 5000 bucks.

During 1990 & 1995 & 1997 when we got the kine, rking & 118NE respectively, it was more of bribing the clerical staff at the RTO.
With the activa & Ikon we had to pay the prescribed fee through a DD.
The for booking a number far ahead in the series it was 5000 bucks, if we wanted to book one in the day or next days series it is approx 2000 bucks.
I payed for choosing a number from the current available series.
If next time the prices increase I'm gonna request for any that doesn't total 8 and be happy with it, it good to have a variety!

Personal or Special Registration Numbers? (eg. HYH 4)

Here in Gurgaon, I have seen some cars having registration numbers like "HYH 4" and HYC 8 etc. Three alphabets with a single digit number.

What are these registration numbers and how one can get that?

PS: These are not TEMP numbers, coz cars were looking a bit older.

These are old registeration numbers which were allotted in the system prevailing earlier than the current one. However, they are not correctly written as the plate should actually read HRH 0004. Due to the fact that nowadays there is a crazy rush amongst the rich to get these "VVIP" numbers on their expensive cars people have the plates ss they like & pay crazy amounts to buy these numbers from owners of old cars & transfer them to their own new cars.

these numbers are correctly written

as some 15 years ago the number system followed in haryana never included 000 in a number like HYH 0004

it was written as HYH 4 only

and right now these numbers can be transferred to a new car if the owner is same and the old car is crushed.

the number 1313 may cost you 2500 - 5000
3333 will cost you more. you need to book it at 2500 and wait if anyone else is willing to take the same number.

I dont think 1313 will be that cheap. I paid 16k for 525 (MH regn) ... The bribe is as much as the official fee. So whatever you are charged on the receipt , be ready to shell out as much under the table.
3333 is going to be quite expensive.
