Re: VIP Car numbers

I had actually seen this black accent in bangalore with the number KA XX ME 420.
the ME 420 was written in a bigger and Bolder font.

i saw the car again few days later near my friends house and apparently they were known to my friend. upon enquiring, i found out that the person has actually paid a hefty premium (amount unknown) to get that number.

Re: VIP Car numbers

When i registered my Linea 3 months back, i was pleasantly surprised to get XXXX 7484. But i am no VIP and did not pay or ask about any fancy no. But was really pleased once i got it. May be such nos are not VIP nos at all, just that you are lucky to get one which can be easily remembered.

Re: VIP Car numbers

I am getting my new Car registered and wanted
0046 / 0460
as my registration nos. Those had already moved so am settling either for 4600 / 4646.

My temporary registration reads as 1111, but it would be too catchy a number and I had to pay only 5k more for 1111, but am resisting.

46 has to do with Valentino.

Re: VIP Car numbers

Got PB 03 X-3330 without paying a dime. Waited for the VIP number related bidding to get over and scooped whatever was left.
Not getting vehicle registered from the agency itself saved me some moolah plus getting a nice looking number. Had to shell only 18K as registration charges for the ANHC.

Could you throw some light on how exactly does this kind of bidding happen? Also, does it apply to all states or just Punjab?

Yes as far as I know, this bidding takes places in most states whenever a new series is introduced. The repective DTO usually placed an advertisemet in the local news papers informing the same as well.

The booking amounts range from 1K to 10K depending on the number, and have to be submitted prior to the bidding process. If you are the sole claimant for that number then fine, else it goes for bidding.

I haven't seen the bidding process in person, so others may be able to shed more light on it.

Re: VIP Car numbers

@avisidhu: So basically any number that is not taken or bid by anybody can be given for free, right? But from where does one get to know which are those numbers that weren't bid?

My brother's favorite number 1789, all his rides hold the same number, even his mobile number (9XXXX 17890) & landline (04XX-XX17890) too

Paid between 2k and 5k for 1789.

My Old rides 1114, 6767 lucky enough not paid a single penny
