Re: VIP Car numbers

I am sorry, I do not actually remember when & how our car was registered. I was too young to understand these things that how a no. plate helps the car to move on the road, when Dad used to say that its 'absolutely necessary'! Those days, I just argued that a car with fuel is all we should need!!
However, I will try to get this data and update you with the information.

Regards.

Only your Octavias number can be considered VIP.

Oh ok got it....
Yup Octays number is a proper fancy VIP number.
I agree 2930 and 1985 just spell good while talking. But the Esteem's number can also be considered VIP. It had costed us a 7K back in 1994

One man's Rupa is another man's VIP

Seriously, though- any number you pay for would be a VIP number no? I always find it a little weird that people would actually shell out extra for a number like 1314, for example, or 5490, but trust me people do pay for those!

7k? That's too much for a 4 digit number. Since you are talking about 4 digit figures, my Swift's number is 7300 and I paid 2k extra while my previous car had single digit 7 and I paid 2k for that too. This was in 98. So guess VIP numbers are cheap here but not anymore. People here are now spending lakhs for some fancy numbers.

Let me give you my example which should clarify one reason for such numbers too.
Don, when purchased, came with 4473 as his number. This is not a VIP number by any means but luckily, Hariya too has 7073 as his number.

Not a VIP number but I managed to notice that both my vehicles have "73" at the end and both of them have proven lucky, reliable and very enjoyable to me during the course of their ownership.

Hence, I have decided that all my future vehicles, if any will have "73" at the end of their number and I will pay the amount needed to get it.

To me, "73" at the end is MY VIP number.

Like you say, someone's Rupa is somebody else's Lux..!!

I don't know if its been discussed elsewhere but is there an official procedure to transfer old no. To your vehicle?

My query is regarding my dads old scooter no. Something like PBS 23.

There are no papers or known whereabouts of the said vehicle.

Can this no. be used in a new car in his name?

Yeah thats true. But when my dad had got that 5600 number, the landing cost was very high at that time. Now in 2006 when I got Octy the 7777 number costed me only 3k more than 5600. So you can guess how costly that number would have been then.

Lol thats true.

But in the general sense, any paid number is not considered a vip no. Only single or double digit numbers, or triple or 4 digits of the same number. Or something like 1234.

I mean on my 3 the number is 2233, while I paid for it I don't consider it a vip number. My Accord has the number 3333, which is considered a vip number. I get prompt attention at hotels, etc. I also paid to get the last 2 digits 33 on my vRS, just to make myself feel good, but its not a vip number.

I can't really comment about Jharkhand, but things function almost similar over here & there & hence for registration no. 0001, you would have to shell Rs. 25,000 (cheap yes, going by Bombay standards)

Between 0002 to 0009 you got to pay Rs. 15,000

For 4 similar digits (like 3333 or 9999 or 5000 or 9000) nos. you got to pay Rs. 10,000.

So, here you see quite a lot of Cars sporting VIP nos.

But any member from Ranchi and or Jharkhand can shed better light on this.
