GM says that it is open to sourcing diesel engines for the "To be launched Spark" by Maruti

Very true .. it seems the whole country will soon run on Fiat diesel engines (I'm presuming this is the same engine) !

If it is so then why can't GM source diesel engines from Fiat itself? Tata-Fiat too are producing these engines now, no?

that will be powered by fiat supplied by maruti.

because i believe GM and fiat had a tiff 1-2 yrs back where GM had to pay $2billion to fiat as they're partnership had broken.
