According to a media report, Toyota is gearing up to introduce the Fortuner TRD Sportivo in India. The TRD Sportivo is likely to be available in 2WD with a 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual gearbox. It may be recalled that the
previous-generation Fortuner TRD Sportivo was offered with 4WD and limited to 400 units.
The new variant is expected to get a new front bumper with an integrated scuff plate, blackened grille with a TRD logo, black trim around fog lamps, black ORVM housings and window trim along with TRD Sportivo decals. Additionally, the SUV will get redesigned alloy wheels. On the inside, it will get a predominantly black interior and new floor mats.
Mechanically, the TRD Sportivo is likely to be identical to the standard SUV. Hence, it will be powered by a 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine which makes 175 BHP@ 3,400 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm (420 Nm for MT) @ 1,600-2,400 rpm.
The Toyota Fortuner TRD Sportivo will rival the Ford Endeavour.

Dare I say, the design, especially the bumpers look a bit overdone and weird.
A bit too much of Japanese-ness in the design.
It would look so much better in Black, with all the gawdy chrome now gone! Would also hide those ungainly lines of the front bumper.

IMHO it will be sold out in a few days whatever the color that Toyota comes out with for this SUV . Good ploy by Toyota to launch it after the cess hike . Buyers will scramble for it since it's a limited edition and forget any pains of buying at an extra cost .

Yeah! This one will look much better compared to the normal variant in darker shades. Just need to lose that vinyl on the doors.
Even on lighter shades, the TRD Sportivo looks less repulsive I guess.
It's a bit disappointing to note that it does not comes with 4x4. Expect for a bench seat middle row when compared to Crysta's captain seats it does not seem to make any difference and with a whopping additional cost of 10-12 lacs.
They have launched it at 31 lakhs :Shockked: while everyone is trying to reduce prices due to competition Toyota is the only company that seems least bothered and is increasing prices without any logic. Definitely not worth the 38-39 lakhs it is going to cost on road. Are they launching this only in automatic or there is a manual too? The launch only says 2wd automatic only

The kit includes a TRD grille, which has been finished in black and has the TRD logo on it as well, in red.
In addition to the grille, the fog lamp housing is now blacked out as well and it features new skirting. On the side, there are side skirts and TRD graphics, that extend all the way into the rear bumper, which also gets new skirting. There are no changes on the inside either.
The vehicle will only be on offer in a single configuration and a single exterior body colour. The TRD kit will be offered only on the 2.8 diesel automatic 4×2 variant and it will be only available in white shade. The 2.8 engine is the same one on the Innova Crysta and it makes 174 Bhp and 420 Nm.
The SUV has already started to reach dealerships across the country and the dealers have revealed that the pricing for the vehicle will be around Rs 31 lakhs.

I'm sorry but the exteriors don't look half as good as the international TRD Sportivo and the black front grill does look out of place without any kind of sporty bumper and not this cheap looking add-on. I was looking forward to the Sportivo but Toyota has completely spoilt the party. No offence to any potential owners.
The sides and rear look nice but the front is terrible ( alteast in pictures. Some one needs to see it in person to confirm if it looks better in real. Quite a few cars recently seem to look better in real than in pictures ).
The seats are great. The alloys look fab

Reminds me of an angry bulldog in pics, with those angry canines and drooping side jaws!
Toyota and Lexus should try and stick to elegant designs IMO.
31,00,000 lakh of rupees and not even a 4WD? And then call a tractor to be pulled out even in small slush/sand because of HT tires. Toyota got this spot on.
