Nissan has launched its certified pre-owned car business in India. Nissan Intelligent Choice will enable customers to exchange their old cars (any brand) with new Nissan or Datsun products. This facility has been introduced in 10 cities which include Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Noida, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata and Guwahati.



Vehicles that are less than 7 years old and have covered less than 1,00,000 km qualify to be part of Nissan Intelligent Choice. As part of the pre-owned car program, every used car will go through a certification process comprising of 167 quality checks and will be certified by Nissan's own technical experts. The certified cars will be offered with a warranty of up to 12 month / 20,000 km. Customers will also be able to opt for an extended warranty of 12 month / 20,000 km over the standard warranty.



Buyers can avail of 3 free inspections for all Nissan and Datsun branded cars. 24x7 road side assistance will be offered free of cost. Customers will also be able to get their certified used cars serviced at any of the 160 Nissan authorized workshops.



Nissan Finance and HDFC are offering finance options like low interest rate and maximum loan amount up to 95% of the vehicle cost.

Nissan Intelligent Choice certified pre-owned car business has already been launched in Brazil and South Africa.

Weird name - nothing intelligent about the company.

Nevertheless, as a Nissan Sunny owner, I can recommend the Micra, Sunny & Terrano because:

- Their resale value sucks. That means, more car for your $$$
- Super reliability
- Excellent ride quality & comfort
- Each has a USP (Terrano = ride, Sunny = legroom, Micra = perfect for city + AT)

One mandatory requirement is having a competent independent garage on hand. The authorised dealerships suck. If you don't have this, don't touch them with a barge pole. You're better off with a safer brand in that case (Maruti, Hyundai etc.).

Nissan joins the bandwagon on manufacturers in the used car business.

Given the low volumes Nissan has and that it isn't a premium brand either, wonder what business rationale this has.

Nissan India revealed its entry into the used car business under name ‘Nissan Intelligence Choice’. The automaker’s used car business will offer a platform for customers owning multi-brand cars to exchange the same with a new Nissan or a Datsun vehicle. Interesting while not that "intelligent" as such. They are ready to exchange any old brand car for an exchange with a Nissan. Some points that come to my mind -

1. Looking at the sales numbers that they are making, the staff at the pre-owned business will have plenty time to be active on social media.
   
2. They are ready to exchange any brand car, then sell it with a warranty upto 2 years/40k kms. Wonder how they'll manage this properly + manage the servicing of these multi-brand cars at their service stations. Customers will have to have hearts made of titanium to take this gamble.
   
3. It will be pretty costly for Nissan to honour the warranty that they are offering on cars that can be as much as 6 years 11 months 29 days old already!
   
4. I don't think this will show them any increase in sales of new cars.
   
5. They should instead invest this (and a truckload more) amount of money to revitalize their product portfolio. Brands like Isuzu are going to overtake them in sales in some time otherwise!

Just called 8433730058 kailash who is in charge of their team in Mumbai but he said they currently have no stock in these pre-owned cars! They do not have an outlet in Pune yet (as mentioned by Pramod 9983683699) and would probably open one next month. Olx and other sites maybe the only option for now.
