IOC starts production of Euro-III petrol Indian Oil Corporation's Gujarat refinery has started production of Euro-III emission norm compliant petrol, the company said on Wednesday.
"Motor Spirit (known popularly as petrol) Quality Upgradation project has been successfully commissioned at Gujarat refinery," IOC said in a release.
With the commissioning of the project, IOC would supply less polluting petrol in Surat and Ahmedabad.
IOC Chairman Sarthak Behuria said with large investments in quality upgradation facilities at its refineries, IOC has taken a lead in fully complying with the stipulated environment norms and regulations.
IOC, he said, had drawn up ambitious plans to invest Rs 40,000 crore (Rs 400 billion) in adding refining capacity and petrochemical business.
Company's Director (refineries) B N Bankapur said the MS quality upgradation project for Gujarat refinery had been designed to produce 850,000 tonnes of petrol at a cost of Rs 450 crore (Rs 4.5 billion).
