IAB has come up with a Rendering of New 2018 Ertiga

I think Maruti will be launching it as an upgraded version of S-Cross or Vitara Brezza with two more seats so that the new car will be placed above Ertiga and below Innova Crysta. They might put the 1.6 MJD as an option along with inhouse 1.5 diesel unit. That may be the reason they with drew 1.6 MJD version of S-Cross.

It will be a new segment altogether if they price it between 14-17L On road. A potential NEXA vehicle.

Looks nice although guess it would be strictly a 2 abreast seater ( maybe 2 adult + 1 child config for middle row ) rather than 3 abreast.

Mahindra is soon to launch its Innova rival albeit at a price below the current Crysta. That should give tough competition to this car given that Mahindra potentially have a better engine line up already and good experience with UVs and the spy spics shows the vehicle to be much larger

Here is the speculated DNA of this spied Maruti Suzuki MPV.

Quote:

Maruti Suzuki is likely to bring in a new cross-over utility vehicle, a derivative of its Ertiga platform internally codenamed YHB
Quote:

The derivative on YHB or Ertiga Platform is likely to be a three-row utility vehicle, with sporty cues along the lines of Honda BRV
Other M/SUV's from Maruti Suzuki in the offing.(three new offerings lined up in the next four years )

1 A three-row Wagon R MPV

2 A premium SUV positioned above the Brezza. ( to rival Hexa/XUV/Compass)

3. Along with Gypsy, Ertiga, Brezza, S Cross, and Ignis, the portfolio of cross-over and utility vehicles will expand to eight, spanning the 5 lakh to Rs 18 lakh price points

4. The Ertiga and S-Cross themselves are expected to be refreshed and the next generation versions are likely to sport Suzuki's new 1.5 litre diesel engine,

Knowing Maruti; they'll do exactly that and it will weigh in at less than a ton and perhaps with a family of 7 weighing at 80kg per person plus luggage with a payload of 600kgs it will barely wheeze up a slope and give around 20 kmpl: everybody 'Khush'!

Now, this is confusing. Is the car spied here the new Ertiga, or the "derivative" that should compete with Innova?

If it is the derivative, this addition of small size is not sufficient. For the Innova competitor, they have to make it to around 4600 - 4700mm, and provide a bigger engine.

Then for the Ertiga replacement, they have to retain the current dimensions. There are many people who use Ertiga as a big hatch, and for every day travel to office. "Small size" does matter here.

Maruti is playing a "more models, more sales" policy in the hatch segment. They can easily use the same policy for this segment.

I must say this looks quite like the actual one barring maybe the front grill. The size might not be detrimental to people as this will perfectly fit into the erstwhile Innova's shoes, albeit little less bulkier. This could be another best seller in Maruti's kitty.

For a change, Maruti seems like the one to watch out for in the upcoming Auto Expo.

The engines are the only question mark unless they have sprung a surprise and will get the 2.0 from Fiat (wishful thinking)!

Big thanks to a Team-BHP fan (who prefers to stay anonymous) for sharing!

- This MPV will get Maruti's new 1.5L diesel engine. Post that, the 1.5L will make its way to the Ciaz, Vitara Brezza Facelift & S-Cross. As a sidenote, Maruti is also planning to launch an Alto Diesel.

- MPV will be introduced 'sooner' than we expect.

- Maruti is thinking of selling this new MPV through the Nexa chain.

This vehicle is already in production ready form and it looks quite similar to the rendering by SRK Designs, maybe a little sharper. Good to know that it'll come with a 1.5L engine and through 'Nexa'. I guess it'll be unveiled at Auto Expo and go on sale later. It 'may' get a new name.

Any information about the petrol engine that will be offered on this MPV?

- New Maruti Suzuki MPV that could be a true 7/8 seater.
- Upcoming Mahindra MUV that could be a true 7/8 seater.
- TUV 300 Plus surely looks like a true 7/8 seater.
- TATA Hexa has already proved it's mettle and is an excellent overall package to beat.

This is War, Toyota Innova Crysta better watch your back.

While everyone was talking about the Sub 4 meter SUV boom in the market, this is something interesting to watch out for. So many tourers to look forward to, finally there is competition in this segment. All Indian Manufacturers coming up with products to rival the undisputed Innova Crysta. Tata Hexa must be already eating up some of its sales.

This new Maruti Suzuki MPV will be sold through Nexa which means it will be a premium offering positioned above the Ertiga MPV. Knowing its from Maruti, they don't have to price it aggressively but properly. If it will be a good overall package it will outsell the competition. This also could be the most expensive MSIL offering, priced above the S-Cross which makes it their helo product.

So this birdie has not spilled the million dollar question is this a updated Ertiga or a all together new MPV?

If this is an Ertiga it will be the second car to join Ciaz which will be sold under Nexa after starting of with normal Martui Dealership.

I don't think Maruti will do such a blunder to move regular Ertiga to Nexa. This car has a lot of buyers in suburbs where nexa has no presence. Ciaz was not affected much after the shift because its target customer is a bit different compared to Ertiga.

The 'heartect'ed Ertiga in regular showrooms and the bigger 'No Er(ror)tiga' in the nexa will work.

I don't claim to be a definitive source as GTO's birdie, but the normal Ertiga is not going to Nexa. There is unconfirmed talk of another vehicle on Ertiga platform that maybe going to Nexa, a more premium looking vehicle than the plain Jane Ertiga.
Lastly, there is never going to be an Alto Diesel. Diesel has no future in PVs in India starting 2020 with the onset of BS VI.
