There will be differences to the India spec Ertiga in features.

Disappointed with just 4 speed AT (was hoping for at least 5 speed CVT) and no additional airbags (knee/curtain).

They have to stop this bland copying of other cars like Crysta head lamps and Expander rear. Present some unique but beautiful designs, and people will accept it.

Bigger engine, bigger dimensions, better exterior looks and more features... So the Ertiga is going more upmarket and prices may also go up, giving enough space for the Wagon-R based 7-seater.

Contrary to the earlier rumor that the dash is similar to DZire, it has a distinct layout except the steering wheel.

Is it a very wide AC vent there? Or just fake slats?

So with all that hype around increased length, we only get 10-15ltr extra boot?

Did they improve rear seat leg room instead? Bit puzzled !!!

Would have loved to exchange my ertiga with this one but not for 4 -AT

There's a reason for a floating touch screen than a flush fitted one: avoids screen washout due to glare while viewing with the sun shining through the windscreen. That's why more and more cars like the Ecosport or the A Class for instance have a floating screen. It's definitely welcome in my opinion.

As a previous Ertiga owner I'm pretty disappointed with the new look.

No DRL! How hard is it to design one inside that headlamp unit or even a separate strip? A missed opportunity to giving Ertiga a signature look. Also, it's plain halogens I guess.

I don't see consistency in Suzuki's design language. Every model in their lineup is different with no relation to each other. For instance the Swift and the Dzire have DRLs but Ciaz and Ertiga do without it! The Aston Martin grille from the Swift didn't make it either. No consistent design language unfortunately.

Also, I really hoped they'd do away with that beige interior, especially that beige steering wheel but it seems like it's carried over.

As already mentioned, there doesn't seem to be a huge improvement in boot space.

And what's with those skinny tyres? Looks like they're carried over as well. I was expecting at least 195 section tyres. Even a hatchback like the Baleno gets it. Can you see Suzuki's sporadic approach?

I'm not bothered about the petrol but I really hope it comes with Suzuki's new 1.5 diesel and a 6 speeder. For an MPV, cruise control is a must but the new Ertiga doesn't seem to feature it.

I thought I'll consider the Ertiga as a future second car if it wowed me but unfortunately the wow factors (like DRLs, LED lamps) that I'm looking for aren't there.

IMO, that's a main attraction of Suzuki designs - not following a family look or grill. Most of their cars has their own identity.

Frankly asking - why we need a family design for all the cars coming from a manufacturer? We are seeing cars from 3 L to 20L having the same frontal look. Rather than giving a premiumness to the 3L car, it actually gives 'cheapness' to the 20L car, IMO.

Appreciate your opinion and I'm all for cars under the same brand having their own identity; in fact that's the right way to go. What I'm ranting about is not having a brand identity at all in a sea of brands. It's a psychological thing and designers go to great lengths to ensure brand identity and familiar traits are maintained within their models. What's the big deal you may ask. It becomes a big deal when brand identity is a sub-conscious factor in your decision making process. If I get into much detail I'll be digressing from the topic of this thread. But I'll leave you with this one below:

You thought Suzuki didn't try to adopt a family look? Look at this:

They've just done the very thing I've mentioned above. It's just that they haven't followed through with it in other areas.

'Imitation is the best form of flattery' and me thinks, MSIL has taken this a tad too seriously. Now I know I'm comparing apples and green apples here but I can't help notice some design elements to be similar to the Innova Crysta!

- Headlights - not the same but you do notice the similarities like the shape, the dual barrel headlamps and the chrome accents within.

- the rising 3rd row window line. A direct copy from the Innova and its sibiling, the Swift!

- Wheels - again, similar design.

- Tail lamps - pretty sure the inspiration was the Innova. Of course, they couldn't copy it directly so they just rotated the design. Notice the placement of rear reflectors as well.

Do I hear the MSIL purists saying "it is 70% Innova at 1/3rd the price"?

You don't have to invert the tail lamps of Innova as this design seems inspired by Honda's CR-V

At the back of this profile the Suzuki Ertiga looks bigger so when opening the rear luggage, we find the third row seat which is more proper and the trunk is now wider with 50:50 rear seat folding configuration and keep the floor flat up to the middle row

Agree with that, but then this is not something new with MSIL. Swift was heavily inspired by Mini. MS Brezza is called poor man's Range Rover Evoque. And now we have Ertiga inspired by Innova.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Looking at these pics, i am unable to make out if there was any change to dimensions. Space seem to be same inside. Assuming this is the top spec variant - it looks bare bones.

No Cruise control, No ACC, just a 4 AT, no driver arm rest. And that dashboard looks like from 20th century cars. Not sure how it will age with time.

Only good point i found is the seat fabric and the floor looks more abuse friendly now. Also some scoops show that India spec has ACC.
Please add cruise control too.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Those extended AC vents on the passenger side look rather VW-ish. So basically, Toyota front + Honda rear + VW dashboard = new Ertiga

Jokes aside, seems to be a pretty good upgrade. I'm not a fan of the front end styling, it lacks character IMO. The current one looks better. Otherwise, great effort. The dashboard looks good. The car is slightly bigger, but not too big which is good, since the Ertiga is supposed to be a compact MPV and is preferred by many sedan/hatchback buyers.

I'm guessing it'll get Suzuki's new 1.5l petrol and diesel engines?

It all boils down to the pricing, 50-75k (starting price) above the current car would be reasonable, and also make room for the upcoming 7-seater WagonR. I'm expecting the ZXi+/ZDi+ variants to be pricey though (going by the Swift and DZire).
