re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Come to Think of it, Suzuki uses Indonesia as its test bench for any cars being launched in INDIA (Similar market dynamic). But if you look at the sales figure of Indonesia Suzuki and world over you will understand that Suzuki's biggest market or only market is INDIA.

Suzuki Indomobile Motors Market Share is 10% at Average Monthly Volume of 10,500 cars a month. While Toyota, Diahatsu selling 48,000Cars a month, Honda 12,000 Cars a month & Mitsubishi another 15,000 Cars a Month.

Now i wonder why do we still get cars that are lower spec compared to Indonesia. And why are safety standards not same.

This is not true as Brezza is not sold in Indonesia. Same goes with current Alto 800 I guess.

We get lower spec cars as there is no statutory body to look at the safety aspect in cars as of now. We'll have to bear with it till BNCAP comes into force. There would be other factors also, otherwise what is delaying Maruti to launch petrol S-Cross when it's exported to Indonesia from here with all safety features?

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

As we will see the New Ertiga in coimg weeks, here is how Maruti Suzuki ventured into the MPV segment and its plans to consolidate it further.

Quote:
The Ertiga name is derived from the Indonesian word R-Tiga where the R stands for Rows and Tiga meaning three. Thus Ertiga means MPV with 3 rows.

Quote:
From tiny crossovers, to sleek MPVs, automakers are cashing in on this booming segment. Suzuki’s answer to this conundrum? The all-new 2018 Suzuki Ertiga.

"Expect the new Ertiga petrol to deliver at least 1.5-2kpl more than the earlier mode" - I am not sure we should be calling them auto magazines especially when they come up with these gems. An increase of 1.5 to 2 kmpl is approximately an increase of 17% in efficiency which is a gross over statement. Car companies spend millions of dollars on R&D to get that level of improvement in efficiency. I wonder if it makes any difference what so ever given how pedestrian this so-called hybrid technology is.

You are missing the biggest point here. It's a Maruti, hence rather than applying 'cutting edge' technology to improve fuel efficiency at the engine level say reducing piston friction, better combustion of fuel etc, they prefer to apply the technology 'cutting edges', be it cutting the sheet thickness, or even the chassis member thickness. Millions of dollars saved, and customer satisfaction guaranteed.

Note : Pun (in capitals) intended, even though you may read the comment with pun intended removed. To each his own

Current gen Ertiga scored 4 stars in safety. I wonder how this Heartech based Ertiga will fare, given the other Heartech based cars like Swift (even Dzire?) scored only 2 stars. Hope Maruti retains the safety rating in the new version as well.

Spotted the new Ertiga being unloaded from truck. Got chance to click few pics.

My few observation being owner of present Ertiga:

1. Space inside is same.

2. Tyre are same spec. 185

3. There seemed to be more luggage space and last row seats were more upright. Which means that either they have multiple back rest angle or they were left in such a way.

4.Seats have isofix.

5. Steering and dash board have changed

6.Door panels seemed same as old one with addition of fake wood.

7. Does not look like a completely new vehicle but more of a face lift from inside.

8.Changes are more prominent on outside

This wooden panel looks more like the faded matte wood from new Ciaz, rather than the glossy one from Dzire or Indonesia Ertiga. Is this correct or is it just the photos? I hope the wooden panel is glossy one!

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Any confirmation on the autobox? Is it the same old 4 speed? If yes, anyone knows how competent it will be on this Ertiga? I am hoping to replace my current Honda City VAT (torque converter) with a automatic 7 seater. New Ertiga is a strong contender. Just worried the 4 speed may be a major downer after coming from the AT of a City.

My SA who called us in the morning to get the booking said it is 4 speed one, similar as the Ciaz. First batch of guys have returned from training, the second one are expected to go out it seems.

I'm happy it is not AGS.
