re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

The USP of the Ertiga is it's utility. Most common usage of a van is outstation trips. For the life of me I cannot understand the addiction to Beige interiors that get soiled and appear dirty within weeks of ownership. No matter what you do, you cannot prevent that from happening in Indian conditions.

On the other hand, Maruti Suzuki did launch a "limited" edition Ertiga that had Black interiors and it really looked good except for the tacky Maroon inserts.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

2018 Maruti Suzuki Ertiga automatic to come in two variants.

Looks nice in Magma Grey!

The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs-1.jpg

- the new model’s higher-spec ZXi trim will also get an automatic gearbox,as well as the mid-spec VXi variant

Quote:
The new MPV will be available in a total of 10 options – four petrol-manuals (LXi, VXi, ZXi and ZXi+), two petrol-automatics (VXi and ZXi) and four diesel-manuals (LDi, VDi, ZDi and ZDi+).

Quote:
The new Ertiga is also more spacious than the outgoing model, particularly in terms of boot space. The older model had a 185-litre boot (with all three rows up) while the next-gen Ertiga boats of 24 litres more. Luggage carrying capacity increases to 550 litres with the third row folded, and expands to 803 litres with the second row folded

It was useful to store extra lights and other stuff, but I guess they had to do something new to the interior's.
Owner's will have to find a way to lock the warning triangle else it would be all over the place.
Are you guys referring to the storage area in the current Ertiga in the boot?

If yes, I guess they have retained it like the Indonesian version too and it is definitely bigger in size compared to the outgoing generation. You can notice in this image that there is a scoop to lift that and also the cover is split into two (notice the division in the same pic).

And this in in-line with the Indonesian spec new Gen Ertiga:

I don't know what purpose just a cover will serve then. Please enlighten. If you refer to this image shared by Leoshashi which again is from one of the dealer stockyards from India, you can see the covers with 2 scoops to lift that.

Also, the base of the boot runs flat till a certain point after which there is a hallow space where this utility box fits. I again see no reason why they will lengthen the floor (with metal) and still provide 2 dummy covers with handle.

All they need is a plastic utility box like this, that is slightly bigger and still sell that as one of the practical utility space:

This was quite evident from the day we saw pictures of the Indonesian spec Ertiga. The 'Redesign' is nothing but making the slope of the tail gate more upright so one is able to stack/stuff more and this always works. This is also one reason why the first Gen WagonR still had a boot that looked small but could stuff a lot as one could stack baggage easily.

The highlighted section is where the tail door is more upright than curved.

Boot Space in the New Ertiga is definitely Bigger than the Older generation as is evident from these pics

The Covers give the Boot a better aesthetic value and serve the purpose of making it a Straight Loading Lip which adds comfort.
Also they are useful to keep the Boot tidy as we can stack away those knick-knacks, spares, tools, etc .
These Covers also prove handy in areas with safety concern where we can conceal small Valuable stuffs or Laptop bags etc. from potential Thefts.

re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

The sloping nose has definitely gone and now this has a Innova styled nose. The rear styling is also a welcome change. However, I feel the interiors are too bland. Suzuki should have done more to bring in more features and styling.

1.3 engine is a big let down, can't we have the 1.5

Also Ertiga India will miss out on Prime Cool Black Color

It is Ironical that Suzuki offers lesser Choices to the Indian Customers who deserve to be the most spoilt for Choice (by Suzuki) based on the Sheer volume of Sales they get from India.

MSIL surpassed the Parent Suzuki Co. in Profits ! India is Suzuki's biggest and most profitable Market.

Ertiga is being Offered in 7 Color choices in other Markets and Indian Customers get only 5 choices. C'mon MSIL, are you listening ? It should be Vice Versa !

Sad to see the Indian Customer always been taken for granted. Maybe the profit-oriented approach by MSIL's thinktank never feels the urge to Woo the indian customer - who queitly gobble up whatever Staple choice Maruti dishes out to them !

The Suzuki website for Indonesia has a lot of details regarding the new Ertiga. Apart from variant naming, most things are the same. The 360 view is a nice option and people interested can have a look.

A post on RushLane showing the leg room in the 3rd row of the new Ertiga accidentally also reveals a Charging Port on the LHS below the handrest. So, at least the top variant of the new Ertiga will have charging ports in all 3 rows for the convenience of the passengers.

Yes, that black interior looked really good. Even the limited edition red color was good looking. Unfortunately it didn't come in automatic version, otherwise I would have gone for it.

For such big vehicles, black should be the default color. It is not at all cramped to need beige to appear big.

I hope the limited edition of this Ertiga comes with similar black interior and glossy wooden panels, not current pale Sunmica looking ones.

Curious about the on road reviews now.

Ertiga CNG Not Launching right Now.
Checked with Managers of a couple of dealers, they said there will be No CNG.
Lets hope MSIL rolls it out soon. With Fuel prices sky-rocketing, CNG version would have been a much sensible Sales option for this people mover.

With that leg crushing leg room of the third row, no way any adult can sit there even in a reasonable comfort. That row is meant for kids.
