Edit : I have booked a ZXI-AT variant
I too have booked for ZXI-AT with Bimal, Banashankari, Bangalore. But I haven't got a chance to test drive it? Did you or anyone else in Bangalore TD it? The dealer is saying Maruti hasn't dispatched any AT vehicles for TD. I am now concerned that these guys maybe be intentionally delaying to bring in the higher price applicability.

If I get to TD AT version, I am ready to proceed with the booking and payment.

Find it intriguing that dealers quote news paper reports and create posters, newsletters and mailers to that effect instead of getting/quoting an official note from Maruti to that effect.

Hi rich_heart, yesterday I went Bimal mahadevpura for TD. The lady said there is only 1 car available for whole bangalore and they have a huge waiting list for TD. They do not have any AT test drive vehicle, all manual. Got my details added in their waiting list.

Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Went to TD the new Ertiga with a colleague who was interested. As mentioned, they don't have AT for test drives yet. This was Pratham Bellandur.

So we ended up driving the manual 1.5L petrol. I probably went in with too high expectations but the overall experience was disappointing. I know I shouldn't associate fun to drive with a 7 seater MPV but the whole drive experience was so lacklustre. It was so generic with no feel or character. No standout feature of the drive.

Steering has some artificial weight but no feedback. 1.5L engine feels like restrained for mileage. Smooth and refined but not revv happy. NVH from engine is good but the overall surrounding traffic noise really makes it presence felt inside the cabin. I kept thinking the window was open somewhere.

Space has improved a lot and its practical as ever. In terms of features again, it's the standard MAruti stuff. No distinguishing features.

Other than space, I felt older Ertiga was slightly better to drive, more feel.

After the Ertiga we drove to Honda showroom and checked out the B-RV. Even with discounts, it's 2.5L more than the new Ertiga for the CVT auto.

But, it's so much better to drive. Still not for enthusiasts but the drive just felt more connected.

I have booked the Arctic White Zxi petrol automatic. Waiting period is 8-10 weeks. After much deliberation, I found the Vxi is value for money, the ZXi just gives a better feel, but misses out on a very useful infotainment system and rear camera, my parents coaxed me to book the top end as they said "You buy a particular car once in a long time so should not regret what you miss in the cheaper version later "

Funny thing is I haven't test driven the car yet, and still gone ahead with the booking ! The sheer space and practicality that the car offers is unmatched, something that individuals with large families like mine will prefer. Color choice was unanimous as we already had the metallic blue, maroon/red and silver on the cars previously owned in our family. The grey looks a little dull on the car having a lot of metal. White stands out as it highlights other elements like the tail lights, glass area and head light section better. I did not like the alloy design though. Also the chrome grill doesn't get along with white. I would have liked some more color options like proper red, black or dark green (Marazzo's) or tuscan wine (Old Linea).

+1 , drive wasn't so exciting.
Although it just ticked all the right boxes for the MPV buyer, it wouldn't excite any enthusiast.
It is an acceptable proposition, which satisfies the average buyer.

+1 , exact feeling

I found the MID showing 10.9 Avg. Mileage.
I tried to look for instant Fuel Economy , but i couldn't find it. It just shows Avg. Fuel Economy.

Can anyone confirm from an owner what are his real world figures ? I had expected 14-15 , but 11 would be too low for considering Petrol version.
Yesterday spotted 3 Ertigas on the NH8. So maybe someone could confirm the Actual Petrol and Diesel mileage ??

+1, the engine was getting noisy whenever a quick overtake manoeuvre is done. Also the engine and exhaust sound isn't so pleasing when revved.

Ditto
I actually asked the SA twice to check if any window is slightly open in the 2nd Row.
Also the 2nd Row Doors don't close easily on the first attempt. Have checked this in all the vehicles available. It's the same. So maybe there are some NVH issues in the 2nd Row Door Frames/Rubbers/Sealants

Congratulations on your purchase Nitesh

Just a concern, if the MID showing 10.9 on the Petrol MT is true ... then Petrol Automatic mileage will be in single figures

Let's hope we get some good figures from actual owners, as TD vehicles are subject to spirited driving and occasional abuse too. Also the TD vehicle was fresh , barely crossed the 1000km mark.

Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

After much deliberation and wait, booked a red ZXI+ Ertiga. The plan was in the pipeline since a couple of years to get a MPV for the family. But things didn't materialise and it had to be postponed with no fixed timeline. Cut to 2018 and the news of a revamped Ertiga were doing the rounds. Just then marazzo also got launched and even considered it but a run of less than 1000kms/month plus diesel engine affirmed my belief in a petrol VFM MPV. Checked it out on 5th December. There was no TD vehicle but just a VDI on display. Initial impression was very good in terms of storage space, 2nd and 3rd row and boot. It's much better than the previous gen model especially the boot and reclining seats. Booked it after paying a token amount of 11,000/-
After requesting and calling up the SA twice, test drove one today but it was a ZDI+. Nothing much to brag about the "National" MJD engine. I don't expect to get blown over by the performance as its just a comfortable, practical people mover for an average built family of 7.

Why did i book top end petrol manual? Because my running will be low, easy to maintain, less margin of diesel to petrol per litre, rear camera which is essential for a vehicle of this size ( rear parking sensors don't inspire that confidence ) and new 1.5L engine with 104BHP.
The waiting period in Hyderabad is 3-5 weeks. So, the wait begins for the delivery. Literally.

Take another TD and this time dont forget to reset the AVG fuel economy.

Then go for a spin for at least 10 kms and check the AVG fuel economy. You will feel better.

The outgoing Ertiga MT Petrol easily delivered 16 kmpl on the highway (and more).

All eyes are now focused on Suzuki's New 1.5l diesel. Extensive tests on Ertiga before its late 2019 launch,

Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

Closely observed a white one at Vashi and was very impressed. Very European looks, size was just right and body control on that pathetic road surface was remarkable.

The Marazzo and the Ertiga have now given nuclear families a good option as the Innova was always too big in city. Kudos to both manufacturers!

Rear Spoiler in Black color would also look Cool on Silver and White. At the moment the Rear spoilers are available only in the 5 Body colors, Black will have to get Re-painted.

In fact the Black Spoiler would merge with the Blackened D pillar giving a continuity to the design and the Floating Roofline would become more prominent as it would taper off with the Black Spoiler.
Also the Blackened Rear Glass would compliment to it , giving it a Sporty appeal.

Looks much better than the current gen. The current gen always looked like an oversize Swift to me, especially in the front when seeing from the IRVM of your car. This one kind of has a wagon look (except for the wheelbase) going for it which is good.
