Tonight, Maruti Suzuki have reason to celebrate as the Ertiga has clinched the Car of the Year award at the Autocar Awards 2019.

It was a red-letter day for the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga as it picked up two more awards – MPV of the Year and Value for Money Car of the Year

Re: The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs

I have been driving new Ertiga VDI magma grey for a week now. Some of my observations. Took delivery from Pollachi, Coimbatore. I have driven only 400 kms so far.
1. The 1.3l diesel is not bad. Gets the job done.
2. The ride quality is very good.
3. Much better space for all the three rows.
4. It has a rear AC not just a blower. Many reviews have incorrectly pointed it as a blower.
5. The rear windows are huge.
6. The brakes are average.
7. Easy to manoeuvre in town and the steering is light.
8. The beige fabric seat is a dirt magnet.
9. Easy ingress and egress.
10. The size of the car is spot-on. Marazzo is too big for our garage.
11. The interiors looks well
Bought it for chauffeuring my grandparents. I think it serves its purpose well. I think VDI/VXI is the most VFM variant.

Congrats on your new car. New Ertiga is surely a sensible buy and i completely second your observations especially on the engine and the overall footprint. Fiat 1.3 may be a decade old but still has its own positives. Coupled with Maruti's lower weight, this engine performs just about ok and gets the job done for 90% of the buying population. Add to that, the compact footprint that this car offers and you have a winner at hand. A lot of 7-seater buying population uses the last row occasionally and Ertiga serves the purpose there. Cars like Marazzo and Crysta are much bigger in dimensions and could be a pain to drive and park for a majority of the people.

Right. It is a proper fan coil unit with the usual drain pipers on both sides through the B Pillar. So this is almost an AC that functions efficiently only when you turn on the main AC in front.

Maruti Ertiga receives 23000 bookings, now Maruti Suzuki is prepared for the launch of a new vehicle ( WagonR ?) in Jan -19.

MSIL said that with the company receiving 23,000 bookings for the new Ertiga since its launch late last month, and a new model scheduled for introduction in January 2019, growth should pick up in the fourth quarter of the financial year.

It is the New WagonR that's scheduled to launch in January 2019. Dates, I am not sure it could either be 23rd or 28th as per my discussion with my SA yesterday.

Another alternative is, getting Base L variant's grill which lacks any chrome and looks much more elegant.

Even then, there is no test drive vehicle for AT available in Bangalore! Imagine no. of people who have blindly bought it without trying. It's up to each individual choice though.
Is there any way of knowing why there is delay in dispatching TD vehicles?

If you are interested in Ertiga AT, take a test drive of :

1) Ciaz AT (1.5 litre petrol engine + 4 speed AT)
2) Ertiga manual petrol.

I read some where that a premium model of Ertiga is to be launched with some premium exterior and interior changes with captain seats to be sold through NEXA. Want to know the veracity of this claim.

If "1.5L Petrol + AT combination" is what you want to know, try out the options given by smartcat below.

As we have been using the Ertiga ZDi for 4 years and 80,000 kms, it was only the "1.5L Petrol + AT combination" that we wanted to check for so I did 3 TD's of the Ciaz AT. Liked the combination for city only usage hence we decided and changed the booking from 'ZXi+' to 'ZXi AT'. Delivery is expected soon.

Agree.
I wasn't aware of base variant when I created/photo-chopped those grill options in August .

Well said. Even I felt that the base version looks much more elegant compared to other versions with chrome grill.
For last two weeks I am trying to have a Test Drive of Ertiga but even as of today there is no Test Drive vehicle in Mangalore and I read here that entire Bangalore had 1 Ertiga for test drive

In this thread Vid had posted his observation related to NVH as below.Do you have similar observation in your Ertiga?

"NVH from engine is good but the overall surrounding traffic noise really makes it presence felt inside the cabin. I kept thinking the window was open somewhere"

Test drove both the Diesel and Petrol Ertiga following your advice of resetting the AVG. FUEL ECONOMY

Here the Results

New Ertiga Petrol

Avg FE on MID before TD - 10.6 KmpL
The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs-20181221_185219.jpg

Test Drive Distance = 25 Km
Avg FE on MID after TD - 13.4 KmpL
The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs-20181221_191629.jpg

New Ertiga Diesel

Avg FE on MID before TD - 13.5 KmpL

Test Drive Distance = 45 Km
Avg FE on MID after TD - 14.6 KmpL
The 2018 next-gen Maruti Ertiga, now launched at Rs 7.44 lakhs-20181220_172122.jpg

Some impressions of both the Test Drives
  • The Diesel Ertiga is more punchy due to the Turbo kicking in. I felt overtaking manoeuvres more easy in the Diesel.
  • Also in the Diesel , the Steering feels lighter.
  • Personally i found the Lag almost negligible. It is very Easy and Car like to drive.
  • The clutch is light and gearbox is very slick and easy.
  • The Petrol Ertiga has a slightly better low end Torque and acceleration.
  • The Steering feels a bit heavier than diesel which is felt while parking or taking U-turns , but it doesn't hamper while brisk driving.
  • The clutch is light and gearbox is very slick and easy.

Yes. I concur with what Vid6639 has mentioned w.r.t NVH.

We got the delivery of our ZXi AT today and have covered 85 kms on it, all done by me in city traffic.

Had to keep checking if any window is open or not as it felt that the noise entering the cabin was a bit more than I liked. Overall the engine noise at low rpm (<4000) is not intrusive at all but above, it makes it's presence felt.
